The desert planet Arrakis came to life at Leicester Square for the world premiere of Dune: Part Two on Thursday February 15, with nearly 30 tons of sand shipped to the site for the gala created by Limited Edition Event Design. But the rainy weather during the build-up days leading to the star-studded red carpet affair was anything but desert-like. The students of St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville, TN were ecstatic last fall when their technical theater program was ushered into the 21st century with equipment from ETC and City Theatrical. The school replaced all of their theatre’s conventional incandescent lights with ETC’s ColorSource Spot V, Fresnel V, and CYC luminaires. The school’s 30-year-old ETC Inspire console was retired to introduce an Element 2 to the students, and the whole system was linked by City Theatrical’s Wireless DMX Multiverse®.
