For the March world premiere of One of the Good Ones at the Pasadena Playhouse in Southern California, Lighting Designer Jaymi Lee Smith turned to Elation’s new Proteus Odeon LED profile fixture to fulfill a number of lighting roles. The Odeon, a full-featured 30,000-lumen moving head that houses a variable CRI LED engine, allowed the designer to find the best blend of intensity and color accuracy to accurately form the onstage lighting while energizing the theater with full-on effects after the final curtain. The promoters of Arizona Bike week billed their event as a “five-day celebration of motorcycles and music.” This year for the 27th edition of the annual festival, they could have added another feature to their list: mind-bending light and video show. It’s all but impossible to imagine that any of the half-million visitors who attended the event at Westworld of Scottsdale in early April went home feeling anything but overwhelmingly impressed by the stunning production on its 50’ wide by 40’ deep stage. On March 3, the Italian pop-rock band The Kolors gave an unforgettable performance at the Forum d’Assago in Milan before announcing their new international tour which will touch, in addition to Italy, countries including Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Belgium. Months before hundreds of thousands of attendees descended on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for Soundstorm 2023, the team at PRG was busy planning the rigging, audio, lighting, and video networks for the biggest of the eight stages on-site. Named “Big Beast”, the stage featured one of the largest LED screens on the planet. PRG’s final Soundstorm 2023 system comprised 12 AV Stumpfl PIXERA four RS servers (including spare render servers), two PIXERA two servers, and three PIXERA Director servers.
American pop band LANY recently wrapped up the North American leg of its 2024 tour, A Beautiful Blur, named after their fifth album, released in 2023. Bandit Lites provided the lighting for duo Paul Klein and Jake Goss who named their act in honor of Los Angeles and New York. Lighting Designer Ben Gilbert sought to streamline the design with LED fixtures, offering both a cohesive design and easier time programming. New York design firm Yellow Studio won the Entertainment Craft Team award at the 2024 BAFTA Television Craft Awards for their work creating the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. Julio Himede, founder of Yellow Studios, joins fellow winners Tim Routledge, Kojo Samuel, Michael Sharp and Dan Shipton, who were all recognized for their work creating and delivering the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.
Twelve of ADJ’s Focus Spot 7Z moving head luminaires have been installed in the new Midco Arena at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Supplied by local technical specialist Pinnacle Productions, the lights are the crowning jewels of the 154,000 square-foot arena. They are utilized extensively to enhance the production of home games for the Augustana Vikings through custom GOBO projections, spotlighting player entrances, washing the ice in vibrant colors, and creating intricate texture patterns.
