Tropicana Hotel & Casino Heats Up With Elation

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — They’re mixing more than drinks these days at 32 Degrees, a European-style bottle-service lounge in The Quarter shopping-entertainment complex at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino. Since undergoing a renovation in Summer 2007, the popular club can mix and change the colors of its lighting at the touch of a button to modify its atmosphere with new color-mixing LEDs from Elation Professional.

Mats Karlsson Joins Martin

AARHUS, DENMARK — Martin Professional A/S has announced the appointment of Mats Karlsson as Technology Manager for the company’s Visual Solutions business unit. Mats has more than 25 years of industry experience in lighting — more recently in video — and joins Martin from Barco, where he served as product manager for the company’s line of creative LED products. 

Parklife Gets Into Groove with Robe

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Over 100 Robe moving lights were in action at the 2007 Melbourne Parklife event — one of Australia’s highest profile and most popular dance parties, produced by Future Entertainment. Andy Mutton designed the lighting, which supplied by Clifton Productions.

PixelArt Makes Television Debut

LOS ANGELES — PixelArt will be making its television debut on The Championship Gaming Series, a competitive computer game battle that will result in the UK champion challenging the reigning U.S. champion. Lighting Designer Will Charles specified the PixelArt chandelier after seeing the structure at PLASA. He explains: “The chandelier was the perfect centerpiece to the set. The PixelArts look great on camera and I will definitely be incorporating them into my future designs.”

BT Digital Music Awards Rockin’ with ETC UK

LONDON — Projection specialists ETC UK supplied Christie video projection and an OnlyView multi-screen control system onto a 24-meter curved screen for the BT Digital Music Awards, a Ballistic Events project staged at London’s Roundhouse.The event honored the best in the fast-moving world of music-related digital innovation and communications.

Mercedes Benz Shines with MA Lighting at International Car Show

FRANKFURT, GERMANY — As the 62nd International Car Show (IAA) recently opened its doors in Frankfurt, a nine-month preparation and a two month setup ended for the planners of the DaimlerChrysler AG booth. The company furnished Frankfurt’s festival hall with LED technology as well as more than 500 moving lights and scores of PARs that illuminated 68 cars. Besides the Mercedes-Benz booth, there were also the booths of Smart and Maybach.  

Trans World Meeting Illuminated by Jands Vista

NEW YORK — Production company Creative Stage Lighting used Jands Vista T2 and S3 consoles to provide show control for Trans World Entertainment Corporation’s recent annual sales meeting in New York. The live event was produced by LubieRocks Inc. and production managed by David Elliott. Lighting design was by John Broderick and George Studnicky IV, with programming by Nick Wisdom. Creative Stage Lighting provided all lighting and rigging equipment for the event.

On Oct. 10, 2007, the ANSI Board of Standards Review approved as American National Standards two new documents from ESTA's Technical Standards Program: E1.35, Standard for Lens Quality Measurements for Pattern Projecting Luminaires Intended for Entertainment Use, and E1.36, Model Procedure for Permitting the Use of Tungsten-Halogen Incandescent Lamps and Stage and Studio Luminaires in Vendor Exhibit

Robe’s new ColorWash 2500E AT moving light fixture is the sister of the ColorSpot 2500E. It is designed for use in large lighting rigs and for venues and installations of all types needing a punchy moving moving light effect. It is also designed for outdoor applications including washing large surface areas (like walls and buildings), and as a searchlight effect.
