Red Rock Amphitheatre

Upping the Ante from 9,000 to 10,000 Seats

When you first think Vegas, you probably don’t think about Red Rock. That belongs in Colorado, right? Well, yes. But there’s also the beautiful Red Rock National Conservation Area in the peaks outside of Las Vegas. And the Red Rock Casino Resort just down the road has their own outdoor amphitheatre that competes with the best venues in town, thanks to the stage and seating from Brown United.

Bamboo Miami

Bamboo Group, known worldwide for its trend-setting 100,000-square-foot nightclub in Bucharest, Romania, recently opened the doors to a 27,000-square-foot, 950-capacity nightclub in the space previously occupied by the Paris Theater in Miami Beach. (The capacity, limited by a layout dominated with VIP tables and couches, will expand when additional seating areas open with the second floor mezzanine and patio later this year.)

Lighting Helps Turn Bayfront Restaurant into Hot Nightclub

It still is what it is — a neighborhood spot were Miamians can hang out in a family-owned restaurant, which it’s been since 2007. But expansion and a big vision fueled an evolution for the owners of Off the Hookah where the dinner plates are put away and hot nightclub is revealed — all in plain sight.

Finding the Eternal in Las Vegas

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts Opens and Gives Las Vegas a Hall for the Ages

Say Las Vegas, and many things come to mind. Talk about seeing a show in Las Vegas, and a few other things come to mind. What probably doesn’t come to mind is a stand-alone, performing arts center dedicated to serving the local community as a home to the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Nevada Ballet Theatre, a Broadway touring house, classical music venue, jazz speakeasy and rock or country roadhouse. The Smith Center for the Performing Arts aims to change all that, and to place Las Vegas alongside Vienna, Paris and New York as a city with a world-class performing arts center built for the ages.

Cherry Hills Community Church’s Rock Concert Lighting

For the faithful, balancing secularism with spirituality is the source of constant confusion and soul-searching. It’s a dilemma that’s existed for millennia and even pops up in the Bible, prompting a certain teacher to impart the cryptic wisdom, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.” The Cherry Hills Community Church, affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and located in Highlands Ranch, CO, may have just discovered the secret.

Philadelphia’s New Nightclub Pulses with Light and Sound

Last September, in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, a new EDM (electronic dance music) nightclub emerged on the scene. The area, an upscale blend of residential and retail real estate, isn’t known for hot nightspots, but Leverage Hospitality Group (LHG) decided that this would be a great place for their new nightclub, Rumor.

Known as one of the hottest nightclubs in Miami back in the early 1990s when owners Gregory and Andre Boudou introduced house and trance music, huge foam parties and a European, open-ceiling grotto style layout to South Florida partygoers, Amnesia has returned in 2011 with the Boudous joined by DJ Bob Sinclair.

Worth the Wait

The BCEC Gets a Dramatic Visual Update, Inside and Out

When the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) was first designed in the 1990s, the design called for exterior features that would change the Boston skyline and interior displays that would impress attendees not just with aesthetics but with practical — and revenue-generating — communications capabilities.

Belly Up in Aspen: An Evolution of a Club Redesign

Patrons of the Belly Up Aspen club were saved from one of those over-hyped, usually annoying “re-launches” as the creatives behind the live music venue decided to take the scenic route to their redesign. “We spent a year redoing the club,” says club LD Adam Skapple, adding that he always had a vision for the club, but the day-to-day demands on his time made it only possible to do it piecemeal. “I’m the only LD here, and the amount of shows we do is incredible — in the past five months, the club has been closed less than seven days!” he laughs.
