Top Vote-Getters for Five U.S. Regions and Canada Honored for Taking Care of Business
PLSN readers have put the latest spotlight — scratch that — hybrid LED moving light — on who they think are the best of the best of their region when it comes to lighting, staging and video. We have some fresh faces and some “repeat offenders.”
Companies driven by people doing what they love to do most are what make a “hometown hero.” There’s a lot of passion in this eclectic collection chosen by the readers of PLSN. And while this can be, as one honoree described it, a “dog eat dog” world, there’s a lot of good people doing good work out there. Here are the six best lighting companies in North America for 2014. One of these companies will be honored with a Parnelli Award for Hometown Hero Lighting Company of the Year at the annual awards ceremony, set this year for Nov. 22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
When the votes for the 2011 Hometown Hero nominees were tallied, PLSN readers once again came up with a good mix. There are some new faces in this crowd along with some companies that have been around a while (one since 1948!). They have their differences, but they share a lot of festival and corporate work. One thing they all have in common can be summed up by what Paradigm Production Service’s Jorge Valdez said: “I can say I clearly love what I’m doing, and I don’t do it for the money, that’s for sure.”
