The Festival Landscape

After two summers of waiting, festivals are once again flourishing, bringing musicians, fans and production partners together. But while their sudden return is a welcome development for the live event production industry, the festival landscape in 2022 is not without its challenges. Day for Night Festival

At the Day for Night festival, which made good use of a disused Post Office building in Houston, Texas, light artists and robots shared the stages with the music makers. Planning and staging for the event was right in line with the festival’s creative aesthetic. The names of each of the four stages — two outdoor, two indoor — are representative of the RGBW color model spectrum, known to tech geeks and video and lighting designers the world over.

Rhythm and Roots Festival

Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI was the setting for the 20th annual Rhythm and Roots Festival held on Labor Day weekend 2017. The festival has become a “must do” event for hundreds of families who enjoy a variety of musical styles including Zydeco, Celtic, Cajun, Tex-Mex. People of all ages enjoy the laid-back vibe at the 220 acre park in the seaside community of Charlestown, RI. The park features picnic areas, a freshwater swimming pond and the Frosty Drew Nature Center and Observatory and hosts a number of events over the summer months.
