The worst of times can bring out the best in the human spirit. The world witnessed this with people helping people during Hurricane Harvey’s flooding in Texas and Louisiana. Before the waters subsided, Hurricane Irma pounded islands in the Caribbean, Cuba and Florida, and not long after that, Hurricane Maria pummeled Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Meanwhile, major earthquakes crumbled buildings and lives in Mexico.

“Hand In Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief” was a one-hour star-studded telethon on Sept. 12 with more than 130 artists and celebrities urging donations to aid the victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Eagle Brook Church is the largest house of worship in the state of Minnesota, in terms of attendance and size. The church’s six campuses in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area have a combined average attendance of more than 17,000, and that number can exceed 22,000 for non-holiday weekends. During Christmas services last year, more than 48,000 attended the holiday services.

EastPoint Christian Church is now among the largest churches in Maine. They recently opened a church campus in a 92,000-square-foot former big box store in South Portland, Maine.

First-time visitors driving to EastPoint Christian Church can be forgiven if they think their GPS suddenly went haywire. There on their right is the sprawling Maine Mall; and over there is The Home Depot, followed by a Best Buy. Driving along, they might wonder, “Can this land of big box retailers be home to a house of worship?” Indeed it can be, especially if that church is as forward looking and diversified in its mission as EastPoint Christian.

While searching for a modern solution, senior pastor Ryan Palmer says they also wanted the environment to exude more of a warm, family feel to welcome parishioners.

With his ever growing success, three time Grammy Award winner, including Best Rap Album — singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer, Chance the Rapper quickly returned to the stage for another tour following his 2016 trek, and with an all new design. The tour launched on April 24 in San Diego, hops the pond for a show in London on July 7, and returns to North America for more performances through Oct. 20 in Phoenix.

About half of the new building is already being used for video production support. The first touring client to use the Dekalb hub was Chance the Rapper.
