LED Wall Reveals Live Cam Imagery at Voyeur Nightclub

Catering to a clientele that wants to see and be seen, Voyeur, an electronic music nightspot in San Diego's Gaslamp district, has been equipped with lipstick cameras placed throughout the venue, feeding imagery of patrons onto nearly two dozen plasma TVs.

Ross Ashton from E/T/C London created a series of three projection art works for the 2009 St. Andrews Festival, a three-day event. Two of the three works were projected on the ruins of the Cathedral of St. Andrews in Scotland, a structure that took 150 years to build and was completed in 1318.

You had to be there to see a hilariously self-deprecating Dennis DeYoung emcee. You had to be there for touching, moving documentaries on the three Parnelli honorees, Richard Belliveau, Stan Miller and Jake Berry. You had to be there for the surprise winners and their usually unconventional acceptance speeches.

Centuries-Old Cathedral Lit for Sting Holiday Special

HSL supplied all lighting and rigging for Sting: A Winter's Night…, a holiday TV special and DVD shoot staged in Durham Cathedral. The show was directed and produced by Jim Gable and Ann Kim of Graying & Balding, Inc. HSL's five-person crew was led by Simon "Piggy" Lynch. The LD for the show was Manfred "Ollie" Olma.

LDI 2009: More than LEDs

If you could sum it up in three thoughts, LDI 2009 might be remembered for smaller booths, crowded aisles and lots of interesting new products. The recovering economy zapped the show with a shrink ray this year, and many of the normally-gargantuan spaces were reduced to countertops and backdrops.

Eiffel Tower Lit with LEDs to Mark 120 Years

Chauvet’s Iluminarc subsidiary may be less than a year old, but it’s scored a landmark coup of sorts: more than 400 Ilumipod 48 IP RGBW wash lights are being used for an LED light show on the Eiffel Tower as part of the structure’s 120-year anniversary celebration.

Smokeless Looks for 2009 Emmy Awards

PRG supplied both the lighting package and the screen automation for the recently presented 61st Primetime Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre. Production designer Steve Bass and lighting designer Bob Dickinson worked on a smoke-free design that reflected key elements of the television industry.
