New Kids On The Block’s The MixTape Tour 2022 harkens back to a time when people created mixtapes on cassettes to personalize their own playlist of songs. With special guests En Vogue, Salt-N-Pepa, and Rick Astley, NKOTB are back with Production Designer Butch Allen, Lighting Designer/Programmer Cat West and Lighting Director Emily Bornt. Jeff Boguski is the Production Manager.

Train ‘AM Gold’ Tour

San Francisco rock band Train is currently headlining its AM Gold Tour with support acts Jewel and Blues Traveler. PLSN catches up with Lighting Designer/Director Joel Wojcik, who is marking his fifth tour with the band. He has done some smaller scale design tours with them, but this is the first tour he has been given total control of all the elements.

Third Eye Blind Summer Gods Tour 2022

Third Eye Blind is celebrating a quarter-century on their “Summer Gods: 25 Years in the Blind” tour, crisscrossing the U.S. with Taking Back Sunday and opener Hockey Dad. Chris Denholm, production and lighting designer for the tour worked into the set tall rectangular pods and risers, all outfitted with 300 straight birch limbs, 200 forked alder limbs, and 150 multi-branched birch twigs.

Deep South Productions Provides Solutions for Float Fest 2022

Float Fest in Gonzales, TX, on the Guadalupe River, combined tubing and live music with musical artists including Marshmello, Vampire Weekend, Cage the Elephant, Deadmau5, Chance the Rapper, Chvrches, among others. Deep South Productions (DSP) was onsite this year supporting Float Fest with lighting, video, audio, backline, and crews. They beat the heat and the dusty desert-like conditions to deliver a successful event.

Amanda Facemire, Media Server Programmer

Amanda Facemire, a standout media server programmer for live events, including virtual productions, has put in the hours and taught herself the technology to excel in her field. Having caught the attention of many in the industry, Facemire is this month’s nominee for the NextGen of the Year Parnelli honor, which will be announced at the 21st Parnelli Awards ceremony in April 2023.

Eric Pearce

The loss this summer of one of the live event industry’s greatest innovators, Eric Pearce, owner of SGPS/ShowRig, was a sudden shock to all of us. A 2013 Parnelli Visionary Honoree, Pearce was not only on the forefront of tour-worthy innovations but was a mentor to many in our industry. PLSN shares a few of their remembrances.
