Shooting Beams through the Floors

Share this Post:

Among the other distinctive looks achieved by LD/Creative Director Ben Coker for Porter Robinson’s “Virtual Self” tour was the spectacle of powerful beams rising up through a modular, translucent stage deck design. The initial design had more than 200 diode lasers mounted in the deck as a laser grid shooting straight up, but the team decided on using moving heads instead. The team opted to use Robe’s MegaPointe fixtures for the look, and have since added both lasers and beams to bring the intensity up a notch.
