Okay, maybe that’s a tip from yesteryear, but here’s a newer one: Check out Kevin Mitchell’s profile of Parnelli-award-winning lighting designer Chip Monck in the June issue of PLSN. Along with the pivotal role he’s played in rock ‘n’ roll lighting for tours supporting artists like the Rolling Stones, Monck found himself in the middle of the fray at iconic events from Altamont to the original Woodstock. He’s also lit Pope John Paul II’s visit to Dodger Stadium. And he hasn’t slowed down; he’s now working on One Great Night on Earth, which is conceived as a multi-year benefit concert series, to be staged in Monck’s adopted homeland, Australia, later this year.
