Stadium for Super Bowl XLIII Lit by LEDs

TAMPA, FL — As Super Bowl XLIII approached, Tampa's Raymond James Stadium was lit with a new kind of LED floodlight, Philips ColorReach Powercore fixtures. The lighting project was part of a city-wide beautification effort leading up to the game, and the stadium was lit from dusk until dawn.

The Inauguration Created Its Own Stimulus Package

WASHINGTON, DC — With gigs aplenty in the nation’s capital, the inauguration provided more than a ray of hope to lighting and staging companies. In the span of eight days, for example, Atmosphere Inc. coordinated and executed lighting for 52 shows in 24 different venues across the city, including two of the largest — the Commander in Chief’s Ball for members of the military at the National Building Museum and the Youth Inaugural Ball at the Washington Hilton & Towers.

Jands Vista I3 Joins The Great Moscow Circus

LISMORE, Australia — The Great Moscow Circus has been touring Australia for 50 years, and now offers 50 international performers from Brazil, Mongolia, Australia, Asia, and, of course, Russia. Brian Anslow, a lecturer in technical production at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts, designed and programmed the lighting for this latest show using a Jands Vista I3 for control.

Creative Stage Lighting Offers Free Lighting Webinar

NORTH CREEK, NY — Creative Stage Lighting Co., Inc. is offering a free online seminar on lighting design. It will take place on Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m. EST. G-Lec’s U.K. Office has Architectural Emphasis

{mosimage}LONDON — G-Lec is opening a sales office, G-Lec UK Ltd., in central London. The subsidiary will manage all sales for architectural and other installations, while supporting G-Lec’s U.K.-based rental partners. Lars Wolf, managing director of G-Lec Europe, noted that, up to now, rental projects have been the focus of G-Lec’s business in the U.K. With the new sales office, however, the company will be putting more emphasis on architectural products.

         What up everyone. Well BuckCherry fell through so immediately I had to find another gig. Luckily the gig found me. I got a crewspace message from the PM at BSL Productions who gives a ring when they can use me for a string of days on shop work or show dates. Of course we get the talking about the Inauguration because any companies in the Baltimore/DC area are hella-busy around this time. If you read up in the upcoming February edition of PLSN magazine I got the opportunity to write about the Texas State Society Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball held at the Gaylord National Convention. In that piece I concentrated on the event as a whole instead of my own personal experience, which I wanted to share in this blog I'm writing today.
