COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A new iPhone application from Wybron gives users a way to put more than 1,500 gobos into their pockets. The Moiré Gobo Library lets users browse, search, and experiment with A-size gobos from GAM and Lee, with more to come.

LED Displays Prove More than a Fad at Radio City Music Hall

NEW YORK — LED displays made by Daktronics have proven to be more than a fad at Radio City Music Hall. First installed in 2007, the Daktronics units usually appear as 11-foot-by-16-foot LED screen configurations, but the modular panels change for special performances like the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

Disney Castle Gets New Coat of Color

When Walt Disney World®’s Facility Asset Management (FAM) group came to Walt Disney World Entertainment’s in-house lighting designer Charley Pogue with a query about replacing the lighting on Disney’s iconic Cinderella Castle, he had little idea what might lie ahead.  FAM wanted to see what it might take to replace the 700-watt arc source fixtures that have been lighting the Castle for 10 years. The fixtures had served their purpose and parts for the discontinued luminaires had become scarce, while the labor to keep them working had increased. And there were far more environmentally friendly options available.

No Downturn in Innovation at Prolight + Sound 2009

World Handball Championships Lit by Robert Juliat

Robert Juliat spots lit the World Handball Championships in Croatia

SPLIT, Croatia — Six Robert Juliat follow spots were used at the 21st World Handball Championships held here recently — two 1200W RJ Korrigans, two 1200W RJ Super Korrigans and two 1800W RJ Victors. The championship also helped open the 28,500-square-meter Spaladium Arena, which seats 12,000.  Rhino Production supplied the gear.
