NEW YORK — NBC Universal has accepted a seat on the Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) Council. The Council is the governing body which manages the development and implementation of ETCP, the industry-wide certification program for entertainment technicians.

SYDNEY — Rigging specialists Pollard Productions have invested in a Kinesys automation system. “We’d been following the development of the system for some time,” said James Ring, managing director. The company had awaiting the release of the latest K2 3D programming and visualizing platform, and had also seen Kinesys in action on several concert tours throughout Australia. “Kinesys came highly recommended by many of the touring riggers we know.”

Swedish Grammis Awards Lit with MAC III Profiles

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — LD Pelle Larsson used Martin Professional’s 1500-watt MAC III Profiles and Martin MAC 2000 Wash XBs to light the Grammis, Sweden’s answer to the Grammy Awards. The event was staged in January at Hovet arena in Stockholm. Larsson also designed the set for the program, which was broadcast on Sweden’s TV4.

FORT WORTH, TX — When Rob Wimberley, technical director at the Christ Chapel Bible Church, opted to upgrade the house of worship’s conventional lighting fixtures with moving lights, design consultant Rick Stuart of Rick Stuart Production and Design specified Robe gear for the job. Electro Acoustics and Video (EAVI) supplied the new equipment.

SYRACUSE, NY — PowerLift, J. R. Clancy’s automated theatre hoist, has been listed as meeting the UL 1340 Hoist standard for safety by ETL. A Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), ETL was originally founded by Thomas Edison in 1896. PowerLifts will now carry the ETL Listing Mark.
