Spring Brings Robe’s Robins to Croatia

PULA, Croatia — Robe’s Robin products, introduced at ProLight + Sound in Frankfurt, have been spotted in other countries as well, including Croatian distributor Sali Trade’s third annual Open Day. The event was staged at the Dom Hrvatskih Branitelju (House of the Croatian Army).

Tour LD Steven Douglas saw the semi-transparent video surface as a way to enhance the band’s performance rather than detract from it.

MTV’s “Real World: Brooklyn” Taps Vibrant Design for Sets

NEW YORK — MTV’s reality series, Real World, kicked off its 21st season this year with a move to Brooklyn and an eco-friendly facelift by production designer Ellen Waggett of Vibrant Design, LLC.  The third person to design the show during its two-decade run, Waggett has a wide range of film and broadcast television credits.

ESTA Foundation Announces Training Updates

BOWIE, MD — The ESTA Foundation said that its Fall Protection and Rescue session recently held at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts here was attended by close to 40. The attendees spent two days with arena rigging specialist Rocky Paulson and MSA representative Morgan Neff. 

44 Production Designs Expands with Nashville Studio

NASHVILLE — 44 Production Designs expanded into a larger facility in Nashville. The lighting and video design and production firm has a client list that includes Trace Adkins, the Newsboys, Mute Math, Paramore, The Fray, Hank Williams Jr., Matchbox 20, Kutless, and Lorrie Morgan. The team customizes lighting and video for each client and also manages rental, production and staffing.

FLDA Gets its Game On with Sports Gigs from ESPN, MLB

SECAUCUS, NJ — If there’s any professional lighting project where you need to have your game on, it’s lighting a TV sports show. Bruce Ferri, principal of Ferri Lighting Design & Associates, should know. FLDA recently took on the task of providing the lighting for both the new West Coast studio for ESPN’s SportsCenter in Los Angeles and the MLB Network’s new digs in this New York suburb.

GLP Restructures in the U.K., Appoints Fenwick to Top Post

LONDON — GLP Light Production opened a dedicated U.K. office and named Stuart Fenwick sales coordination manager for the new operation, based at the headquarters Richard Martin Lighting (RML), a TV lighting supply firm. Fenwick was formerly with Martin Professional, Robe and Lighting Effects Distribution.
