New Technologies Help with Need for Social Distancing and Contact Tracing in the Workplace
PixMob started up in 2008 as a wireless lighting company, specializing in handing out wearable LED devices to attendees at an event that are controlled with infrared light, generating colorful effects synchronized with sound and visuals. They have been a staple on many large-scale performances, transforming each audience member into a pixel, and incorporating them into the show as part of a large canvas of changing colors and patterns.
Like the rest of the live event industry, their business stopped on a dime mid-March when all large gatherings came to a halt. With all projects on hiatus for an indefinite period of time, the company looked at how they can be resourceful to the community during this period.
Through discussions and careful planning, PixMob has come up with Safeteams, which promises to serve as an easy-to-implement solution for maintaining social distancing and contact tracing for those in the workplace. Modeled on recommendations from health authorities, the Safeteams system is designed to minimize risks of Covid-19 infections spreading as businesses continue their operations or strive to reopen.
Who’s At Risk?
Contact tracing can take hours to interview employees and scan any footage of where they have been and who they have interacted with. Safeteams is now providing connected devices to rapidly identify all the employees and areas that have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19. The system helps you make smarter data-driven decontamination and attend to those at-risk to stop the spread of the virus within your establishment.
When an employee is tested positive for Covid-19, the Safeteams platform will provide a list of employees who are at-risk — in a single click. This allows companies to isolate the spread as quickly as possible. If there is a contamination, areas visited by those infected can be prioritized and isolated for decontamination. It can analyze risks, as Safeteams collects and analyzes foot traffic to provide insights on potential vectors of contagion such as specific physical interactions between workgroups throughout your facilities.
By wearing one of Safeteams’ “Clip” devices, the worker is also warned whenever they have come to close to the social distance of another team member. The clipped on LED pendant they are wearing will emit a red light if within a dedicated (6’/2m) distance from another device. The Clip can easily be adapted to the work uniform and are battery powered. Tags are installed in work areas and periodically send signals over Bluetooth to the nearby Clips. Information collected by the Tags are then related to secured cloud servers via WIFI or LTE. This data is compiled and aggregated on the Safeteams web-based platform.
With this data, a list of employees who have been in proximity to the person infected in the previous days and of potentially contaminated areas can be generated within seconds, allowing employers to rapidly respond to and limit the spread. Safeteams platform facilitates the analysis of risks of propagation as a preventative measure, using the data on vectors of contagion such as the rate of interactions between groups and the traffic frequency of a specific zone.
Five Key Advantages
Below are five quick reasons to utilize this product in any workplace.
- Tailored to your needs: a highly scalable and affordable solution.
- Make Data-Driven Decisions: Access accurate data in one click to quickly identify and isolate workgroups & zones at-risk.
- Turnkey Integration: Simply distribute the wearables to your workers and leave the rest to Safeteams.
- Reassure Your Workforce: Keep the workplace a safe environment according to recommendations from health authorities.
- Fast deployment: Inventory readily available to ship and be deployed.
Safeteams wearable collects no other information than movement, location, and distance while worn. The wearables have their own unique electronic ID independent of any individual’s identity and the information recorded is exclusively in relation to their own ID, not the individual’s identity. Safeteams is also limited to the workspace, avoiding any risks of violation of privacy associated with mobile applications and GPS features.
Over a decade of development has gone into PixMob’s products to provide users with the most accurate, insightful, and actionable data. They have an established supply chain producing and deploying millions of wearables every year to customers worldwide.
Marketing coordinator Danny Tran notes, “I’d like to add that the technology is picking up steam with TV production teams and music venues. Both are slowly gaining activities and will require large crews on-site. This type of security technology can help. Music venues are said to be producing shows for streams and shows without audiences.”
