The tour continued with shows last month in Asia.

Lily Allen 2014 Sheezus Tour
By Steve Jennings
On working the 2014 Lily Allen Tour, PLSN got some eloquent words from lighting designer & director Ricardo Lorenzini…
Ricardo Lorenzini
Lighting Designer & Director
“I do not design shows based on how much cash I can spend, the latest gadgets or the sudden notoriety of my ego. Personally, it has a lot more to do with the atmosphere generated and the emotional state the audience experiences through the performance combination of song, set, sound and color, sending people home with a smile on their faces. As long as the light equals or betters the intended purpose of its role in the show… As they say, no one goes home humming the lighting rig. But they can go home with a picture in their eyes and feeling in their hearts which is where color and visual content effecting emotions is so very misunderstood.
“On this tour, we were fortunate to bring together a full team, from production to occasional bus driver that Lily was either familiar with or had personal experience working with. It was all through her desire to build a family that would tour in harmony and unity and positive advancement on her return.
“When it comes to the visual team, Es Devlin was approached to offer her world class set design. As an LD, this was greatly appreciated for the unique and unusual experience of designing alongside a visual guru who could listen to the songwriter and visualize the theme and direction of the show through object, the famous ‘baby bottles,’ in her own quirky way.
“Es, through collaboration with Aislinn Clifford, our video producer, was able to get down on HD, visual content for each song in the set which is added as a layer and bit mapped through the baby bottles. Hence an extra dimension to the show when screens, video walls projectors, etc are provided in house. As opposed to relying on video and its content being the driving force on the stage, this was all planned along with the lighting design to be able to utilize the ability of cloning. Hence we can turn up at any venue or festival and merge our show into their world, without carrying masses of equipment or spending a fortune. Be it lots of lights and no video, lots of video and no lights or a combinations of… as long as we can get the baby bottles and the floor package in, everything else merges to our show.
“With Es (the visual Queen), James Basely (production manager and colonel), Toby Dennis (production, crew chief, MA guru) and Aislinn (video producer, bottle babe, personal security)… through all of these people all of the above was and is possible. As they say, there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team.’”
