Tour Notes:
Jeremy Camp, who is an ordained Christian minister as well as a musician and songwriter from Lafayette, IN, has released 11 albums including this year’s I Will Follow. He is doing shows all over the U.S. this summer, appearing at amphitheaters and festivals to spread his lord’s word.

Designer Insights by Steven Jennings:
John Hansen, Lighting Designer (EnHansen Design) –

“During the Spring and Fall, Jeremy took the rig I detailed out on a headlining tour.  This summer he is doing festivals with it, which is why I had to design set carts that could make a big look, but roll on and off quickly.  The four set carts upstage have 60 fixtures total on them.  That’s a lot of bang for four pieces.

“Each set cart has three columns that you can crank up and down to adjust the height, giving you plenty of different looks you can achieve.  I designed the set carts with advice and fabrication from ACass Systems in Omaha, NE.

“I wanted to make a stage that surrounded the band with fixtures, it’s nice to have 18 Q7s and 24 ACL360i to do sweeps and big hits.  It was important to have a big bright rig for more rocking songs, but be able to get a lot of texture out of the Mythos and Pointes for more acoustic songs.  Adding a soft tungsten glow from the scoops helped with that also.

“I have loved using incandescent scoops in designs for some time, but traditional Altman 154 scoops do not hold up on the road well.  The lamps, while beautiful, are too fragile for touring efficiently. The Altman 160 scoops I chose for this provide the same warm punch, but are much more road friendly. The SGM Q7 has long been my favorite LED strobe/wash.  It’s bright, but has a wide enough throw that it’s not painful, and great saturated colors.

“It’s my first time using the Elation ACL360i.  I wanted a small single source LED mover with a tight beam.  Having a system of 24 of them gives a lot of room for different waves on all of their attributes.  The infinite pan tilt are a bonus, but I use it only a couple of times in the show.

“The Clay Paky Mythos has been a good workhorse for me. Lots of options.  The fixed dark CTO is one of the best I’ve seen. The trend toward Hybrid fixtures is great.  It’s going to be fun to watch more options come out as companies continue to embrace it.”
