Jennifer Nettles was long known as half of the country music duo Sugarland. Last year she took leave from the band as she released her first solo album, That Girl. Dubbed the “Playing with Fire” tour, she went out to play theaters with her new band and a fresh lighting design by Nashville based LD Chris Lisle. The design included staging elements playing off the tour’s name, all of which was strategically lit. These elements included the fireplace fascia, some fire screens and the use of Martin MAC Vipers projecting textures on the mesh backdrop. Lighting director Daniel Rehbein found the Clay Paky B-EYES to be among his favorite lights. He appreciated their rotating front lens effect and the fact that they never took away from Nettles herself, they just enhance the stage looks.
