L’ASSOMPTION, QC, CANADA — Work is progressing on Stageline Group’s new plant in L’Assomption, Quebec. With an investment of $5 million, this expansion project features the latest environmental technologies that can be applied to industrial plants.
The first phase of the project is a 35,000 square-foot building, grouping the production line of the largest stage models and mobile marketing units, maintenance and preparation of rental units and administrative space — including the headquarter of MSR-Mobile Stage Rentals, the rental entity of the Stageline Group — under one roof.
The building will allow for a increase in productivity, provide more usable space for the construction of the larger stage models such as the Stageline SAM series and room to develop turnkey projects. The highest section of the building (60 feet) is engineered to provide an unobstructed space for stage deployment and a preproduction area.
“Given the increasing volume of business the company is dealing with, increasing the production capacity was becoming a necessity’’ said Yvan Miron, founder and president of Stageline Group.
Investing in a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building, emitting virtually no greenhouses gases through the use of geothermal and solar heating systems – among the leading technologies used in this project – allows Stageline to significantly lower their energy bill and reduce the impact of the economic activity on the environment.
“Moreover, choosing a site near the actual facility also demonstrates a strong commitment to our community and that sustainable development is compatible with business growth’’ said Lise Morissat, executive-vice president of Stageline Group.
One example of the company’s growth is their new SAM 550 XH covered wings system, which made its official début July 1, in Montréal, for a series of outdoor summer concerts.
The two 40-foot-by-20-foot covered wings are directly installed and connected to both sides of the stage. This additional work surface provides for a practical staging space, not to mention protection of crews, instruments and equipment in case of bad weather.
Another important feature is the modular door system, featuring seven freight doors, located on the two sides of each wings. As a result, the two wings may also be transformed into covered docks.
