AARHUS, DENMARK — Martin Professional A/S has announced the appointment of Mats Karlsson as Technology Manager for the company’s Visual Solutions business unit. Mats has more than 25 years of industry experience in lighting — more recently in video — and joins Martin from Barco, where he served as product manager for the company’s line of creative LED products.
Mats’ role at Martin will be to strengthen the technical and marketing foundation for products within Martin Visual Solutions, a business unit of the company created earlier this year to expand business opportunities and capitalize on the growing popularity of LED video screens. Martin recently introduced its LC Series of LED video screens, a semi-transparent modular system of lightweight LED panels.
"Creative video and visualization is the new frontier and challenge for the lighting market, in the same way that automated lighting was in the late 1990s,” Mats comments. “Martin is ideally positioned to take advantage of this thanks to its strong market presence and streamlined manufacturing. I am very excited about having a key role in this new venture.”
Mats will remain in Belgium, where he has lived with his family for the past three years, and will make regular visits to Martin’s headquarter office in Aarhus, Denmark. He is a respected figure in the lighting industry, regularly contributing articles on LED, video, etc., for industry periodicals and often appearing as a guest speaker at industry seminars.
