CATALINA ISLAND, CA — The historic Catalina Casino Ballroom was home to Art Good’s 20th annual three weeklong Jazztrax show. The 360 degree seaside venue’s limited power and rigging points “presented myriad technical challenges as we met the needs for 20 headlining artists such as Midi Abair, Ray Parker, Jr. and Peter White,” said Project Manager Ryan Steidinger.
Solid state LED lighting made the show possible with their lower weight and power needs compared to conventional instruments.
“We even used an LED Star Drop instead of an older style fiber optic curtain. It was a beautiful venue, great place to work and a true test of our ability to be good scouts. You have to be very prepared for unknowns when you’re on an island 26 miles away from the mainland,” adds Ryan.
PCE also lit promotion areas located throughout the venue as well as the casino’s circular exterior.”
