Lightronics’ FXLD100E and FXLD100ECMY fixtures combines the functionality of classic tungsten ellipsoidal fixtures with an LED light source. Both are available with 50°, 36°, 26° and 19° beam spreads. Depending on the lens used, the fixture offers 7,000 lux with a 50° lens, up to 23,500 lux with a 19° lens.

The driving force behind the fixtures is a 100 watt Helio LED engine that produces a 6,300° K color temperature beam while still utilizing a glass reflector. The LED engine is rated for an average lifespan of 100,000 hours. The power supply of the fixtures is auto-sensing between 90V and 260V, and the total power consumption of the fixtures is just 150W.

The fixture housing are made of plastic to help minimize weight and allow for cool-tothe- touch fixture operation and control. Two fans inside also help ensure that the fixture operates within a safe temperature range. The FXLD100E is a standard white light fixture. The FXLD100E CMY offers color mixing — but instead of RGB mixing, the colors are blended through CMY dichroic color mixing.

The CMY version also offers a fourth dichroic wheel of CTO for skin tone matching, and also a built-in iris that can be controlled via DMX. Altogether, the CMY fixture requires seven channels of control to operate. The CMY mixing fixture is slightly larger in size and weight compared to its brother. The white light version is 23.9 by 16 by 12.3 inches and weighs 16.6 pounds. The white light version is 23.9 by 10.7 by 11.1 inches and weighs 10.6 pounds.

Both fixtures operate and have functions commonly found on a tungsten-based fixtures, such as barrel focusing, four blade shutters and an iris/gobo slot.

The CMY version of the fixture is available this month. The white light version will be shipping in the first quarter of 2012. Pricing for the fixtures was not available as this issue went to press.
