TOUR: Immortalized Tour
DATES: Feb. 2016 into 2017
THE DESIGN: “My intent was to do a 100 percent LED rig. I got close, but at the last minute, I changed the profile fixtures out. I really needed a bit more horsepower to cut through the wash. There were several conference calls about ideas and direction. I was their LD when they went on hiatus back in 2011, and was flattered to get the call back. Fortunately, there was already a relationship built, and we picked right up where we left off.”
BACK STORY
Home Base: Winter Garden, FL
Years in the Industry: “Almost 20.”
Career Inspiration: “I was an ‘80s metal fan and went to every concert I could. I always noticed the lighting and was impressed by it. Never thought it would end up being a career, but I’m definitely glad it did. I was a mechanic for Cadillac before I made the jump to lighting.”
First Industry Gig: “I totally lied my way into a job at a Jacksonville nightclub, The Edge, and figured it out from there.”
First LD Gig: “3 Doors Down. After the first run I did with them, the singer wanted me to be responsible for everything the fan sees at their concert. They gave me a lot of creative freedom and helped launch my career.”
Inspirational Designs: “I love seeing the amazing work that Sooner Routhier, Drew Gnagy, Brian Jenkins and Andre Petrus are putting out there. They are definitely pushing the envelope creatively. A lot of talent is coming out of Nashville these days.”
Best Advice: “Be nice. Be a person who is a pleasure to work with but can also deliver. And always be five minutes early; punctuality goes a long way in this industry.”
What do you like about what you do? “Technology is always advancing. There’s always something new to learn; that works out great for me. I am a technology geek.”
