Show Report: Prolight + Sound 2014

The 2014 edition of Prolight + Sound finished strong after four days on March 15, with 897 exhibitors from 42 countries on par with stats from the 2013 event (901 from 41 countries) despite the 2014 event’s month-earlier time frame. Combined with Musikmesse, there were a total 2,242 exhibitors from 57 countries, with a total 110,000 visitors from 142 countries. PL+S/Musikmesse once again featured a wide array of conferences, presentations and workshops and informal networking opportunities for the live events industry. But for me, the main focus — not just for this show report, but also for the online postings and videos at www.plsn.com/tv, www.prolightingspace.com, www.youtube.com/plsntv and www.twitter.com/plsnmagazine — was to check out all the new and upgraded product developments for our industry. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

AC Lighting (www.aclighting.com) displayed new Chroma-Q fixtures, including the Inspire LED House light and the Studio Force V 12 DC, a DC-powered fixture with variable white light presets (3200K and 5600K).

ADJ’s (www.adj.com) new Vortex 1200 is a small, compact LED moving head with four zones of RGBW LED control for a total of 12 10W quad-color LEDs. The fixture offers a zoom range of 5°-44° as well as an infinite rotating front lens for eye catching effects. ADJ also introduced the new 3 Sixty 2R, a dual moving head that delivers continuous 360° rotation, with pan and tilt movement. Powered by the brand new Philips Platinum 2R 135W discharge lamp (rated at 6,000 hours of lamp life). Each head can operate independently from the other in tilt, color and beam projection.

Altman Lighting (www.altmanlighting.com) featured its 250W Phoenix LED ellipsoidal fixtures, available with RGBA, RGBW, 3000K and 5600K light sources. The fixtures, which have fully locking shutters and a 360° rotating barrel to keep light from leaking, are also touted for their aesthetic design and ergonomic functionality.

Analog Way’s (www.analogway.com) Ascender 32 is a multi-screen seamless switcher with 32 scalers featuring 12 seamless inputs and 42 input plugs, independent preview and mosaic/monitoring output and full live preview of all sources (preview/mosaic/monitoring).

Apollo Design Technology (www.apollodesign.net) displayed their Avid 7 and Avid 5 fixtures. Avid 7 features seven RGBW Osram OStar Stage LEDs. Avid 5 uses a 20W Osram Sylvania Ultra LED HD light source. Both promise smooth dimming and cross fading capability along with high CRI and rugged billet aluminum construction.

Along with new aspect ratio and cropping tools, new Hue, Saturation and Lightness tools, layer-based volume control and a redesigned interface, the new licensing system lets users register and de-register any machine remotely from their own account; in that way, MediaMaster 4.0 can be used on different machines

ARRI (www.arri.com) displayed its L-Series LED Fresnel fixture, designed to be swappable with traditional Fresnels, and the M90, which features MAX reflector technology to combine the advantages of a Fresnel with a PAR fixture. Output from the open-faced fixture’s 9000W lamp is said to be comparable to a 12K PAR fixture with lens, and the unit is focusable from 16° up to 49° just by turning the focus knob.

Astera’s (www.astera-led.com) wireless X-Series includes the RGBAW SpotMax spotlight, with amber LEDs added for improved color saturation. Control options include Astera’s remote controllers, wireless DMX transmitter and third party W-DMX controllers. Astera’s wireless Pixel Tube can also be controlled remotely.

Ayrton (www.ayrton.eu) followed up the successful debut of their MagicPanel 602 fixture in 2013 with the MagicPanel-RAyrton (www.ayrton.eu) followed up the successful debut of their MagicPanel 602 fixture in 2013 with the MagicPanel-R, trimming back the space between LED modules in the newer 5×5 matrix LED fixture. As with the new 7 RGBW LEDs-in-a-row MagicBlade-R, the MagicPanel-R offers continuous double rotation on pan/tilt axes.

AV Stumpfl’s (www.avstumpl.com) desertscreen is a mobile projection screen built together with a projector mount setup that allows for standalone use. The aluminum profile frame and projector arms can be used with short throw projectors and are designed with anti-sway braces and center supports for a convenient, flexible and secure projection solution.

Avolites (www.avolites.com) introduced two new control products, the Titan Network Processor and the Titan Mobile Wing.Avolites (www.avolites.com) introduced two new control products. The Titan Network Processor adds a Network Processor to an existing Avolites system to offer an additional 16 universes of control. Also launched: the Titan Mobile Wing, which gives direct access to items that are frequently used, such as Shape Overlay Cues, Blinders, House Lights, Smoke Machines or Performer Key Lights for TV productions.

Capture Sweden (www.capturesweden.com) showed off their latest improvements to their visualizing software. In the latest version, 2.11, the library now includes textured objects along with some additional tweaked features.

Chainmaster (www.chainmaster.de) is celebrating 20 years of serving the entertainment market, and the year-long celebration was launched at Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt. Visitors were shown the latest version of the company’s Load-2-Net Network Load Monitoring system. It is browser based and has new features designed for gathering load cell information quickly and easily.

The MagicQ MQ1000 Stadium is a new control console from ChamSys ChamSys (www.chamsys.co.uk) introduced their new control console, the MagicQ MQ1000 Stadium. Designed for particularly demanding applications, MagicQ MQ1000 Stadium supports show modeling and pre-viz with a built-in 3D visualization and media player. It promises users the ability to take shows from concept to implementation while controlling all elements of a show, including lighting, media, LED and scenic design.

Chauvet Professional Rogue Series R2 Beam at Prolight+Sound 2014

Chauvet Professional launched a brand new series of moving heads, the Rogue series.  The four new fixtures include the R1 Spot, R2 Spot, R1 Beam and the R2 Beam.Chauvet Professional (www.chauvetprofessional.com) launched a new series of moving heads, the Rogue series. The four new fixtures include the R1 Spot, R2 Spot, R1 Beam and the R2 Beam. The R1 Beam uses an Osram Sirius 132W HRI light source. The R2 Beam uses the 230W version of the same lamp. The R1 and R2 Spot fixtures use an LED source — 140W and 240W, respectively.

City Theatrical (www.citytheatrical.com) showed off a number of their new products, including their QcolorFLEX LED tape connected to their D Series of LED dimmers. Driving the signal was their latest version of the SHoW Baby 5 wireless DMX transceiver.

Clay Paky presented a complete family of B-EYE lights, including the B-EYE K20, B-EYE K10, B-EYE K10 Easy and B-EYE K10 CC versions.Clay Paky SuperSharpy at Prolight+Sound 2014Clay Paky (www.claypaky.it) launched the SuperSharpy, which is about four times as powerful as the Sharpy — although the indoor fair surroundings did not allow this power to be fully appreciated. Clay Paky also presented a complete family of B-EYE lights, including the B-EYE K20, B-EYE K10, B-EYE K10 Easy and B-EYE K10 CC versions. The B-EYE is a high performance wash light, a beam light, and a generator of completely new spectacular visual effects. Their new STORMY, an LED strobe, undoubtedly struck a chord with LDs handling rock ‘n’ roll artists. It is reminiscent of the effect of a classic strobe, but provides the versatility typical of LED technology.

Coemar stand at Prolight+Sound 2014Coemar (www.coemar.com) showed off their Reflection LEDko Profile in 3200K or 5600K. The LED engines offer bright output at just 120W power consumption on the LED engine. Also on display was the Infinity Spot L, a compact moving head with a 1000W arc source. Features include CMY color mixing, a color wheel, CTO filter, two gobo wheels and two rotating prisms.

Coolux’s (www.coolux.de) latest hardware in their media server product line is the Pandoras Box Compact Player. The player is a hardware-based media player that is small in size (about the size of an Apple Mac Mini). The company also showed the latest version of the Pandoras Box Media Server software, version 5.7, which includes the Venue Site feature. It allows users to visualize complete show setups in 3D, in real time.

D3 Technologies (www.d3technologies.com) announced their new pro range consisting of two new hardware products: the d3 4x4pro and the 4x2pro. They also announce r11.2, d3’s new software release, with four new features aiming to help improve show design and production workflow.

Dataton (www.dataton.com) showed WATCHPAX, a solid-state media server that comes with
WATCHOUT multi-display production software. At 127 x 148 x 22 mm, the WATCHPAX fits well in a rig (far better than, say, a PC) and takes full advantage of hardware-accelerated video playback. It’s also designed to match the specific demands of distributed systems and multi-room installs.

DTS introduced their latest LED wash moving head, the Wonder.  DTS Lighting (www.dts-lighting.com) introduced their latest LED wash moving head, the Wonder. The Wonder features two independent zone control with discrete zoom control. The zones are broken down into segments that are controllable for eye candy and dual color mixing.

Elation Professional SBX 17R at Prolight+Sound 2014

Elation's range of new products for professional stage applications included the unveiling of four all-new luminaires in Elation’s popular Platinum and Satura range of professional moving heads – two discharge lamp-based and two LED-based - the Platinum BX, Platinum SBX, Platinum Profile LED, and Satura Spot CMY Pro.Elation Professional (www.elationlighting.com) unveiled four all-new luminaires in their Platinum and Satura ranges of professional moving heads: the Platinum BX, Platinum SBX, Platinum Profile LED and Satura Spot CMY Pro. Both the Platinum BX and Platinum SBX are compact fixtures that combine new lamp technology from a Philips, the MSD Platinum 17 RA 350W lamp, with a new optical system to kick out 20,000 lumens of power. The Platinum BX is a beam luminaire that delivers extreme output along a tight 2.5° beam. The Platinum SBX is a 3-in-1 luminaire which can be utilized as a beam, spot or wash fixture. The Platinum Profile LED features a 180W LED engine, internal framing shutter system, and 18° beam angle, while the Satura Spot CMY Pro houses a 320W cold white LED engine with CMY color mixing and produces 12,000 lumens, comparable to typical 700W discharge lamp fixtures.

Enttec’s (www.enttec.com) Storm 24 is a powerful Ethernet to DMX 512 converter that can convert large amounts of DMX Over Ethernet data into DMX 512 while keeping costs under control. It’s designed for any LED pixel-mapped project or large traditional rigs. It uses 1U of rack space and gives users 24 Universes of DMX 512.

ETC launched the smaller brother to the Cobalt 20, the Cobalt 10.ETC (www.etcconnect.com) launched the the Cobalt 10, a smaller brother to the Cobalt 20. The Cobalt 10 is comparably sized to the Gio console in the Eos family. ETC also introduced the Source Four LED Series 2, which features an updated x7 color mixing system that replaces the white LEDs with Lime. This promises users greater control of softer colors and truer-toned whites. In the architectural line, The Source Four Mini LED was introduced with two models shown: a standard version and the the Gallery version, with museum quality and track adaption.

GLP launched the impression x4 XL, the largest LED wash moving head in their line.German Light Products (www.germanlightproducts.com) celebrated their 20th anniversary in the entertainment lighting industry. At their stand, the company featured product development milestones from the past 20 years. Officially launched at the show was the new impression x4 XL, the largest LED wash moving head in the GLP line. A prototype of their next model, the impression x4 L, was shown. It offers individual pixel control across the entire fixture.

Green Hippo (www.green-hippo.com) added Chipmunk to their Hippotizer media server range. Chipmunk delivers two layers of 1080p HD video plus full on-layer geometry, FX and color control and keystone correction. Chipmunk also includes many standard Hippotizer features such as timeline functionality, RegionMapper, Preset Manager, ScreenWarp and more.

HazeBase’s (www.hazebase.com) new base•station can serve from a single 200-ltr.-barrel, 1000-ltr.-IBC container or 25-ltr can of fog liquid or haze liquid. It also services fluid for up to 32 fog machines or hazers. The base•station and base•reservoir are compatible with all brands of fog and haze machines.

High End Systems launched the ShapeShifter.High End Systems (www.highend.com) teased the show with “A Richard Belliveau Concept,” then launched the ShapeShifter, an LED wash moving head with more movement in the head itself. Six modules containing red, green and blue LEDs circle the perimeter with a seventh module in the center. The outside modules have individual color control as well as independent tilt and pan control up to 15 degrees each way. A set of High End’s indigo LEDs create a glowing effect to add depth to the fixture and to help highlight the movement possible

JB Lighting stand at Prolight+Sound 2014JB Lighting (www.jblighting.com) developed new Varyscan P8, an LED spotlight equipped with 21 high-performance RGB LEDs. The relatively compact fixture’s maximum total power consumption is 800W. The RGB color mixing promises smooth and homogenous transitions without the use of mechanical components.

Kinesys (www.kinesys.co.uk) launched two new products, the Velocity 2 drives and the Mentor range of SIL3 safety controllers. Velocity 2 drives promise a robust customized entertainment automation solution for open-loop or closed-loop control of induction, linear and servo motors for winches, turntables, elevators and other stage machinery. Velocity 2 offers capacities from 0.75 kW to 110 kW with configurable general purpose inputs and outputs and multiple control options. Combined with Kinesys’ Mentor safety controllers, Velocity 2 can form part of a complete SIL3 control solution for single or multiple axes of movement.

Kvant Laser Systems stand at Prolight + Sound 2014Kvant (www.kvantlasers.sk) featured Interactive Laserman, a Kvant laser controlled by a motion sensor, along with a new edition of the company’s Fiesta.NET control software that can trace body movements and then follow them with pre-programmed laser effects. Also on show: the Kvant ATOM 6000 Tour, a new medium power version of Kvant’s pure diode laser system. It’s designed for medium sized indoor venues and is built for touring.

Laserworld’s (www.laserworld.com) ES-400RGB is a RGB laser system with a total output power of up to 400mW. The red diode laser module has a wavelength of 650nm, the green DPSS laser module 532nm and the royal-blue laser module 445nm. These beams have a diameter of about 3mm and a beam divergence of about 2.0mrad and the projector offers a scan angle of up to 30° as well as a galvo system with up to 30kpps for great projections.

Le Maitre (www.lemaitreltd.com) provided the pyrotechnics as well as flame effects for this year’s PRG Festhalle exhibit at Prolight + Sound. The effects included more than 2000 pyro products in the form of 35-foot gerbs and 30-foot Gold Glitter Mines, as well as the company’s CometFlames. Le Maitre also featured full details of other products on their stand.

Leader Light’s (www.leaderlight.eu) LL STAGE 6-06D is a compact LED luminaire with dimmable cool white light. The company touts the fixture’s easy handling, solid construction, wide range of accessories and DMX control. The body design is designed to let users easily exchange optical parts along with quick installation with camlocs. Their LL STAGE CYC is a compact LED cyclorama wall wash fixture with uniform soft light distribution and dynamic color changing.

LED Flex’s (www.led-flex.co.uk) Side Emitting Led Flex tape uses a side-mounted high intensity 335 LED chip allowing users to bend the tape in various positions without losing the impact of the bright LEDs. Side Emitting Led Flex lighting is supplied on 5-meter reels.

Look Solutions (www.looksolutions.com) released the Tiny FX, the latest, modified version of the successful Tiny series. A smaller, more efficient pump allows the product’s dimensions and weight to be further reduced. Additionally, the fluid reservoir can now be screwed directly into the machine, eliminating the need for an external fluid tank and fluid tube.

LSC’s (www.lsclighting.com) PowerPoint Power Distro system provides 12 channels of 10A, 13A or 16A of power with each circuit protected by an RCBO (MCB + 30mA RCD). There is also an overall 4-pole (3 actives + Neutral) Power Switch so that the entire unit can be turned off. There is a variety of output connectors available including Australian, Wieland, Socapex and Terminals.

LumenRadio debuted the smallest wireless DMX solution ever seen, CRMXchip. LumenRadio (www.lumenradio.com) debuted a very small wireless DMX solution, the CRMXchip, a wireless DMX ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) solution. With the 6mm-by-6mm CRMXchip (smaller than a fingernail), manufacturers can fully integrate a multi functional wireless DMX receiver into high volume products where cost and size are prioritized.

Luminex featured the GigaCore 16XtLuminex’s (www.luminex.be) GigaCore 16Xt is a Gigabit Ethernet switch designed to cope with the most demanding lighting and AV installations. It is managed through an intuitive web interface, but can also be configured from the front-end display. Four SFP cages also allow users to create complex network topologies over fiber link, such as mesh or ring.

Lycian Stage Lighting (www.lycian.com) launched a new full size, professional followspot, the Super Star 2.0, model number 1276. It’s the big brother to the company’s popular 1275 model. The new model features a 2k discharge lamp and a fast focus for quickly beam sharpening.

MA Lighting (www.malighting.com) demonstrated the latest updates to their VPU line of media servers. The new versions of the MA VPU plus and MA VPU basic promise even more functionality and performance. MA Lighting also extends their technology into more budget-conscious territory with the new MA VPU light.

Madrix (www.madrix.com) expanded the range of their Art-Net data distribution products with the LUNA 4 and Madrix LUNA 16. They receive and send DMX512 data over network and put out 4 or 16 DMX universes per unit over 5-pin XLR ports (2,048, 4,096 or 8,192 DMX channels). An additional XLR port is available to receive DMX-IN data. Every Madrix LUNA can be used as a USB 2.0 DMX512 unit as well.

Martin Professional revealed the MAC Quantum ProfileMartin Professional (www.martin.com) revealed the MAC Quantum Profile. The new fixture pairs LED technology and proprietary optical designs to promise super-bright light output. Martin also introduced an expanded family of its proprietary VC-Grids and VC-Strips family to include 15, 25, 30 and 60 mm pixel pitch fit for architectural installations, stage design, and TV set design. Additionally, Martin launched two new RUSH LED fixtures—the RUSH MH 5 Profile and RUSH DC 1 Aqua. The RUSH MH 5 features two color wheels, two gobo wheels, and a rotating 3-facet prism, in a compact LED profile moving head. The RUSH DC 1 Aqua is a compact and bright LED fixture featuring full electronic dimming, variable manual focus, and five selectable colors to deliver aquatic decoration effects for shows, clubs, and other entertainment venues.

MDG featured the ICE FOG Q MDG’s (www.mdgfog.com) ICE FOG Q promises an extreme volume of continuous, pure white, low-lying fog. In one minute, it can cover an area of over 115 square meters while consuming a mere 0.09 liters of fluid. ICE FOG Q runs for over an hour on one 180-litre Dewar of refrigerated liquid CO2.

Osram’s (www.osram.com) KREIOS SL is an LED light designed for a broad range of illumination applications where a zoomable light source is preferred. Users can quickly vary the beam angle by rotating the position ring on the fixture body. Supplied barn doors may be inserted in the front of the fixture, letting users keep light spill to a minimum. The output can be controlled by connecting this LED light source to any existing dimmer circuit.

PR Lighting (www.pr-lighting.com) debuted the XR 1000 fully automated moving head fixture, with Spot and Beam versions. Both house an Osram HTI 1000 W/PS 1000W metal halide lamp. The strength of the optical path was evident with the two units projected shapes and geometrics onto the stand roof, with butterflies projected onto the rear wall.

PRG displayed the Best Boy Wash PRG’s (www.prg.com) Best Boy Wash is a new wash light and features a 1,500-watt arc source that generates 60,000+ lumens of light output. The 6:1 zoom optics system allows for smooth, continuous adjustment of the beam from a very narrow 10° spread to an extra wide 60° flood. The Best Boy Wash uses a glass precision gray-scale dimmer for smooth dimming as well as a separate strobe mechanism for added effects. The Best Boy Wash also includes a rotating, indexable gobo wheel with four wash gobos to add effects to the wash beam.

Pulsar Lighting’s (www.pulsarlight.com new LumaRange features two high-power, high-efficiency intelligent white LED fixtures, the LumaFlood 130i (30°, 40° and 60° beam angles) and the LumaWash 130i. Both have a color temperatures from 2700K to 5000K and 13,000-lumen output at 5000K. They’re designed for professional architectural and entertainment projects and feature smooth dimming, DMX and RDM compatibility as well as an IP65 rating.

RC4 Wireless (www.theatrewireless.com) showed off their LumenDimM4, a miniature wireless DMX receiver and 4-channel DC dimmer for use with LumenRadio CRMX transmitters. It provides full RDM support for both the internal dimmers and additional RDM-capable devices downstream. Each dimmer handles up to 50W at 12V. The device operates from 6V to 30VDC, to a maximum total load of 16A. Also shown was the LumenDim4, a low-voltage DC four-channel wireless dimmer utilizing the LumenRadio CRMX wireless DMX receiver. It communicates with LumenRadio CRMX transmitters, and is also compatible with some Wireless Solution W-DMX components. LumenDim4 provides RDM support for both the internal dimmers and additional RDM-capable devices downstream.

Red Lighting’s (www.red-lighting.com) BS1 is a compact moving head projector that creates very narrow beams for precise scenic effects. It features infinite rotation of the pan/tilt movements and comes equipped with a W-DMX wireless DMX control. They also showed the LWZ7E, a LED moving head projector with motorized optical zoom and a heat dissipation system that helped reduce the size and weight of the fixture at the same time.

Robe products included the ROBIN 1000 LEDBeam and the CycFX 4 moving lights and the PARFect 100 along with the first in a line of brand new battery-powered LED rangeRobe Lighting (www.robe.cz) showed off their ROBIN 1000 LEDBeam, the CycFX 4 moving lights and the PARFect 100, along with the first in a line of battery-powered LED fixtures, the LiteWare HO (High Output) and LiteWare Satellite. The Actor 3, 6 and 12 LED theatre luminaires were re-launched with a new, smoother dimming curve along with other enhancements. Robe’s ROBIN MiniMe, a digital projector and media server on a moving head, was shown with a new wide lens for wider display options.

Robert Juliat stand at Prolight+Sound 2014Robert Juliat (www.robertjuliat.com) refocused attention on its followspot range: the Cyrano 2500W HMI, Lancelot 4000W HTI and Victor 1800W MSR. Robert Juliat also presented its new motorized yoke accessory designed specifically for Robert Juliat Fresnel fixtures. The yoke was used with the 2500W tungsten RJ Cin’k 325LF, drawing considerable attention to the stand.

In the new product range is the economy model, the Mini-V with a 1000W heater; the standard model, the Vapour, has a 1200W heater. The Vapour Plus has the added feature of being able to run either horizontally or vertically. Last in the series is the V-Hazer. All of the new products feature a digital DMX menu system and used the standard fog
fluids from Rosco Labs.

SGM's latest moving head, the G-Spot, an RGBY LED moving head, was shown being constantly hit with water to tout its IP65 rating.SGM (www.sgmlight.com) transformed the Palco 5 wash light into an IP65-rated fixture, the P-5. The low-profile fixed, rectangular, full-color LED wash light features 44 RGBW 10W LEDs with power consumption reduced to just 410W while the LED source life expectancy is 50,000 hours. Their latest moving head, the G-Spot, an RGBY LED moving head, was shown being constantly hit with water to tout its IP65 rating.

Philips Showline premiered the SL NITRO 510CShowline (http://lighting.philips.com) from Philips premiered the SL NITRO 510C, demoing the unit’s full RGBW capabilities within the same compact fixture as the SL NITRO 510 while maintaining similar output, multiple zone control and continuous-on abilities. Showline also debuted the SL WASH 350, which delivers an extremely bright homogenous beam with a large zoom range. The fixtures 19 RGBW 15-watt LEDs deliver over 5,800 lumens of output and an wide color palette.

Steinigke Showtechnic stand at Prolight + Sound 2014

Steinigke Showtechnic (www.steinigke.de) showed off the Zeitgeist, a new line from Eurolite (which Steingke represents) that includes three spots and three fog machines. The Zeitgeist-210 is designed for matrix effects and demanding light jobs with seven 30W COB LEDs. The Zeitgeist-150 has a 150W COB LED and the Zeitgeist-180 uses 6-in-1 (red, green, blue, white, amber and UV ) LEDs for unique color mixing. The Zeitgeist fog machines come with 1000W+ heating units in matte black housing.

Strand Lighting launched 'a new chapter in the evolution of control' in its 100th year in the form of the brand new NEO expandable control system.Strand Lighting (www.strandlighting.com) celebrated its 100th anniversary with the launch of what the company calls “a new chapter in the evolution of control:” the NEO expandable control system. It offers up to 100 universes of DMX control as well as the new Philips Advantage DMX system. In the system, any Philips line of fixtures (Strand, Vari-Lite, Showline or Color Kinetics) will not subtract any DMX parameters from your purchase universe count, thus giving you “free” parameters. The console also features motorized faders for the 10 submasters, A/B playback, five multi-function faders and dual grand masters. The system can use up to three multi-touch external monitors and be manipulated with Android/iOS app remotes.

Studio Due Light’s (www.studiodue.com) CityColor LED is an outdoor rated LED fixture in white and RGBW models that is designed for applications where a powerful and large light output is required. The CityColor features more than 40,000 lumens of output and
promises flicker free performance for TV and film applications.

Swisson's XWL series encompasses W-DMX compatible, as well as CRMX (LumenRadio) compatible compact wireless DMX transmitters and wireless DMX receivers. Swisson’s (www.swisson.com) XWL series includes W-DMX and CRMX (LumenRadio) compatible compact wireless DMX transmitters and wireless DMX receivers. All products are equipped with an M10 thread and a 3/8-inch thread for mounting options including installation on microphone stands.

Tarm Laser (www.tarm.de) showcased their wide range of laser projectors, with output powers ranging up to 5 watts for mobile use or permanent installations in clubs. The talk of the show was the Scanner unit, the X-scan, featuring up to 40° scanning angles, beam-deflection rates ranging up to 20 kHz, and active scanner-safety systems equipped with a shutter unit complying with CDRH/EN60825.

TMB (www.tmb.com) introduced the Solaris LED Flare Jr, a new compact version of the original Solaris LED Flare. The Solaris LED Flare Jr is one-third the size or the original, featuring 32 CREE RGBW LEDs. The fixture also incorporates full RDM functionality and control along with LumenRadio wireless DMX control.

Ultratec's Radiance Touring System combines the Radiance Water Based Hazer andl Versa Fan into a compact road case. Ultratec Special Effects’ (www.ultratecfx.com) Radiance Touring System combines their Radiance Water Based Hazer and powerful Versa Fan into a single compact road case. The Radiance Hazer is mounted so that residue does not build up in the fan, which can cause damage. The Versa Fan is mounted on brackets that slide easily when the fan is pulled out into set up position and glides back into place for storage. The fan can be adjusted to different angles depending on the required location for the haze dispersion. The rear door allows easy access for either using the remote, DMX or the stand alone mode.

The VL4000 Spot and VL4000GT Spot are the first in a new generation of Vari-Lite luminaires Vari-Lite’s (www.vari-lite.com) VL4000 Spot and VL4000GT Spot are the first in a new generation of Vari-Lite luminaires designed to provide designers, rental companies, venues and productions with a pair of luminaires offering unlimited possibilities without compromises. The 1200W VL4000 Spot has 25,000 lumens and features a new cooling system that quietly draws air into the fixture while high-resolution optics promise high quality center-to-edge focusing and an unprecedented contrast ratio. The fixture also features a 5:1 zoom that goes from 9 to 44 degrees. The 1500W VL4000GT Spot boasts 35,000 lumens, uses the same new cooling system and high-resolution optics, and also features a 5:1 zoom, from 9 to 44 degrees.

Viss Lighting (www.visslighting.com) debuted their FX series, a new concept LED display, with die-casting polymer panel and innovative fast locks. It is designed to make it easy and quick to form flat or curved screens with ±15° radian. It has lighter and thinner panel to comparable products according to manufacturer specs and offers quick mounting and removal, tool-free installation.
