It’s All Teamwork

This month, readers will notice a change in the cover design of PLSN. Working with our very creative Art Director/Production Manager, Mike Street, the cover design now gives even more prominent focus to the photos of the incredible work of our industry each month. All the photos are a bit larger and our main photo is now a cleaner view of the image, better revealing the details of what the designers and production teams accomplished together. The PLSN cover redesign reflects what our editorial coverage is often about, teamwork is at the core of our industry.

Being a big believer in ‘credit where credit is due,’ PLSN tries to include production team credits in our show coverage and speak to a wide range of different roles in our interviews. A great example is, this month our Senior Writer Kevin Mitchell speaks with Touring Accountant Amanda Forbes for our NextGen spotlight. Hers is one of the often overlooked, yet vitally important roles to a successful endeavor. That is certainly true at PLSN. Without Mike Street’s art direction PLSN would be a bland bore. He is one of the team of people behind the scenes at PLSN each month whose time and talents bring the readers of PLSN the best coverage of this dynamic industry. That team also includes our talented Managing Editor, Frank Hammel, who works closely with myself and Street, doing editing, proofreading, and expertly routing page proofs amongst us all in an organized way. He is literally the cotter pin that keeps the wheels on this magazine.

And if Hammel is the cotter pin of the magazine, then Timeless Communications’ Vice President, William Vanyo is the cotter pin of our company. Wheels would be flying off everywhere without him. From what I can tell, his scope of work’s primary skillset seems to require juggling fireballs. Yet he calmly works away on the myriad of projects that cross his desk, like the launch this month of the newly redesigned Event Production Directory (EPD). With a new look and new features, the comprehensive EPD’s website has had a site-wide upgrade with a mobile-friendly, updated interface—for both end users who rely on the EPD, and the companies that list their products and services for our industry. Vanyo worked with our Timeless Webmaster, Mike Hoff; both putting in a lot of time consuming hard work updating databases and thoroughly testing the site for functionality. You can take a look—and use—the EPD at www.EPDweb.com.

I hope you like the redesigns and I thank the whole PLSN team for their efforts to bring the best experience to our PLSN readers.
