PixelFlex Finds Flexibility Key to Growth

Video keeps playing a more prominent role in concerts and touring, corporate and sporting event production. PixelFlex, a relatively new player in the LED display market, has carved a niche for itself with a new style of LED screen in various pixel densities that is foldable. The ability to fold the screen makes for a small package for storage and transportation.

Jeremy Byrd“PixelFlex evolved from my involvement in the touring industry and seeing a need for a better alternative to bulky hard edge LED options,” says owner Jeremy Byrd. In 2011, Pixel Flex opened shop in Memphis, TN. In Nov. 2012, PixelFlex then moved to Nashville to provide products and support for the country music and touring capital of the world.

“Our entire LED curtain line, from 8mm to 100mm, have the unique ability to fold up to a small package,” states David Venus, marketing director for PixelFlex. “Most LED panels are two by two feet in size and weigh 95 to 110 pounds.  One of our 18mm panels is eight by four feet in size and weighs 74 pounds.

PixelFlex’s LED curtains, which are soft-sided, have the ability to bend in any direction or to hang in a configuration that comes full circle. “Our LED curtains offer any number of design options. From a single panel to 200-foot displays that intermix our various pixel densities, we have seen it all,” says Venus.

Exhibit designers are looking for custom LED displays to wrap segments of their booths or fly video displays overhead. Our lightweight product offers those features along with easy setup.”

Customer Driven

PixelFlex has their customers in mind right from the beginning. “We know that LED displays can be expensive; that is why we offer both sales and rentals of our LED curtains,” says Byrd.  “We’re seeing a good mixture of both sides of the business.”

To extend its reach, PixelFlex is also providing its products through nationally known companies such as VER. “Video Equipment Rentals has already purchased a number of our products to offer to their customers around the country and beyond,” says Venus. “We have also begun to open a dealer network that aims to provide our products to those customers that need a lightweight LED display solution.”

PixelFlex has made a name for itself in the country music tour market. “Our products are on a number of tours, including Luke Bryan, Thompson Square [pictured above], Darius Rucker and Rodney Atkins, as well as other popular artists, such as Ice Cube, Toby Mac and Jeremy Camp, to name a few,” says Venus. “It’s not just tours that are finding our products beneficial,” Venus continues, noting how the
company’s products have been put to use in houses of worship and for such corporate clients as Boeing and for events including Michael Jordan’s Celebrity Invitational in Las Vegas.

PixelFlex Light Rigid Series (LR) panels range from 4mm and 8mm in pixel pitch. The LED panels measure 1.5 by 1.5 feet in size and weigh 17 pounds each. Not Just Curtains

PixelFlex’s core business may be LED curtains, but they have listened to their customers and the needs of the industry. “There is no getting around it, some people want small pixel density. We are still researching and developing a flexible solution to meet that market,” says Byrd.  In the meantime, PixelFlex has recently introduced new products outside of the LED curtain segment, including the PixelFlex Light Rigid Series (LR). These 4mm and 8mm LED panels measure 1.5 by 1.5 feet in size and weighs 17 pounds each.

“The popularity of our lightweight LED video curtain walls was the driving force for the creation of a solution that would deliver an even higher video resolution and ease of installation in any indoor environment,” says Byrd. “The LR is the ultimate solution for permanent installations where high-end video improves the customer experience, both indoors and out.”

Looking to the Future

“The future holds many new and exciting possibilities for PixelFlex,” says Venus. “We never stop listening to our customers or requests from users. We are constantly in R&D mode back at the shop, thinking of news ways to make products that exceed our expectations and deliver what our customers deserve.”

Recently, PixelFlex announced the hiring of industry expert Monty Rains as the new chief operating officer for the company. “With PixelFlex gaining market share, now is the ideal time for someone with Monty’s track record to streamline and improve our business tools and services — from customer support to distribution channels — to further strengthen PixelFlex from top to bottom,” says Byrd.
