There was a time when the Martin MAC 2K wash fixtures were a staple on so many shows. But then came a period when the pendulum shifted toward pancake fixtures and hybrids, deeming these models as just fine in terms of wash lighting. Soon, however, more and more LDs began complaining about staring into multi-pixel faced fixtures, and the industry has responded, bringing the pendulum back in the last couple of years. Riding this wave, GLP and Vari-Lite still offer some fine high wattage discharge bulbs. Here’s the wide angle on the wash fixtures now available.
