This month PLSN asked X-Laser a few questions to bring a focus to the company’s well-respected products and work in the live entertainment industry.

Tell us a little about your company and products.

X-Laser has made high-powered laser effects accessible and practical for nearly 15 years. What began as helping mobile DJs get their U.S. laser variances and entry-level laser effect systems has blossomed into providing laser fixtures of unparalleled quality to professional lighting designers and some of the world’s biggest productions.

X-Laser is based in Maryland, USA, and is driven to engineer and produce as much as possible in-house, a major differentiator from other laser hardware manufacturers. On the laser control side, X-Laser’s exclusive and proprietary Mercury system is an integrated hardware and software solution that lets designers program laser fixtures just as they would with a “traditional” moving-head lighting fixture. From continuing to serve the mobile DJ market to cooking up crazy custom laser solutions for groundbreaking projects and world tours, X-Laser exists to provide lasers—without limits.

What are some of the advantages of choosing X-Laser for customers?

Working with X-Laser gives clients a number of “unfair advantages,” as we’ve illustrated using our current Unfair Advantage campaign. The fixtures we manufacture give designers ideal color balance and range; fast, reliable setup; and virtually limitless creative tools.

We help lighting and production professionals erase the misconceptions that lasers are intimidating, complex, or bogged down by annoying red tape and burdensome legacy control methods. We love seeing the reactions LDs have when they try Mercury for the first time and realize how easy it actually is to incorporate lasers into their rigs.

Also, our engineering and technical teams provide what we call “relentless support” to help clients realize their visions and make every show a success. We stand by our products with warranties that exceed industry standards, and the control we maintain over our manufacturing and assembly processes ensures quality and empowers peace of mind for the client and crew.

What are some marquee projects that X-Laser’s been a part of realizing?

We worked with Strictly FX to provide an array of lasers for Coldplay’s ongoing Music of the Spheres Tour. We provided two versions of our Triton fixture for that tour; 10W and 36W versions, both of which were engineered and assembled from the ground up at our facility. We will have the Triton system on display at LDI 2023 at Booth #1420.

Elsewhere, designers and audiences can see X-Laser Skywriter fixtures touring with artists such as August Burns Red, Scotty McCreery, and more. It excites us to see lasers become a part of more and more tours across music genres and we’re honored to see
X-Laser fixtures on any project.
