Keith Urban surprised Chuck Hull, his Tour Manager of more than two decades, when he presented him with the Sam “Old Skool” Harden Award at the 2024 Touring Career Workshop in Nashville on November 12. Named for the late Sam Harden, a beloved Lighting Designer and Technician at Bandit Lites, the award is given to an industry leader who dedicates their time and energy to mentoring and teaching those just starting their careers. About Touring Career Workshop
The Touring Career Workshop (TCW), a 501c3, offers human resources for touring professionals. Co-created in 2011 by Chris Lisle, owner of concert event design, production, and management firm CLLD (Keith Urban, Robert Plant, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, NFL Draft, Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Bash, among others) and industry professional Erik Parker to educate and mentor their colleagues in the touring music industry by providing access to experts on topics including health insurance, financial planning, mental and physical health self-care, home ownership, and work/life balance. The annual event also includes networking opportunities with top vendors. TCW’s All Access Program offers on a year-round basis four free, and totally confidential, counseling sessions with pre-approved therapists. The program is also now available to all artists, bands, crews, and staffs at many of the largest music festivals in the country including Lollapalooza, Faster Horses, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Festival, CMA Music Festival, and sporting events like the PGA Simmons Open.
