Andrew Nikel, a lighting professional, passed away on the evening of April 4, 2024. He had been battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years. Nikel retired from City Theatrical in April 2020 after working there for 15 years. He was a lighting professional with 40 years of experience, both working in theater as a master electrician and in the industry in rental and sales positions with companies like Production Arts, PRG, and City Theatrical. Nikel was highly respected and loved by many in the industry.
Nikel, who graduated Connecticut College in 1980, was also had many activities he supported including Volunteer EMT, Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) volunteer, Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts Committee Chairperson (Caldwell, New Jersey), and Soccer Coach.
“Andrew is the perfect human being – he’s the nicest person you’ve met in your whole life,” commented Gary Fails, President, City Theatrical. “I always looked forward to catching up with Andrew at a trade show or at City Theatrical. Not only for what was new with the company, but for what was up with him and his family. He was such a warm and caring person, and he had a great sense of humor,” said Michael S.
