It is with great sadness that Odyssey Innovative Designs (Odyssey) a leading design, manufacturer and distributor of cases and accessories, announces the passing of industry veteran Dave Lopez after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Lopez began his career in the 1980s with AT&T, while also DJing local events in Southern California. His love for music and people quickly grew into producing weddings, parties, and playing clubs. In 1996, Lopez met Mario Montano and John Hsiao, who had just launched Odyssey Cases and they instantly hit it off.
He joined the startup as one of its first employees, quickly excelling in business development and sales management. Lopez’s love for people, the community, and the industry led him to spearheading Odyssey’s growth for nearly three decades; earning him a lifetime achievement award from NAMM in 2020. Lopez is survived by his wife, daughter, and son who were the most important part of his life.
“Dave was more than a colleague and a friend; he was a brother from the day we met. Odyssey wouldn’t be Odyssey if it weren’t for Dave, and we wouldn’t be the people are today either,” says Mario Montano and John Hsiao, Co-Founders of Odyssey Innovative Designs.
