Vicki “Max” Brenner, a lighting professional with a career that spanned decades from her earliest days with Imero Fiorentino Associates to her last years before retiring as a gaffer for CBS’ The Talk, died Aug. 1, 2023 at age 71.

“We worked on many, many shows, and I was always impressed with her skills and professionalism,” said Lee Rose of Lee Rose Designs, who noted that both Max and he had worked as Partners at Design Partners, Inc. for years after Rose joined the firm in 1998.

Brenner started learning her craft at the University of Minnesota (BA, Theater) and Arizona State University (MA, Technical Theater). After joining Imero Fiorentino Associates and working as a Production Manager there, she joined the staff at The Klages Group as a Gaffer, then moved on in the mid-1990s to become a Partner with Design Partners Inc. She then joined the crew of the CBS talk show, The Talk, where she served as Gaffer, working with Lighting Designer Marisa Davis.

Along with Max’s wife, Denise Dimin, Brenner is survived by her mother, Elva “Skip” Brenner, and brother, Mike Brenner. Funeral arrangements had not been announced at presstime, but donations in Brenner’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to Stand Up To Cancer (www.standuptocancer.org).
