At the end of the 90’s, the ANAE (National Aviation Association of the Army) members manifested the will to create an important monument in Viterbo Italy to honor the commitment and sacrifice of the “Blue Basques” who lost their lives serving the homeland. In September 2001, this wonderful work was inaugurated and over the years has become a landmark of the city and a symbol of the close relationship between the Blue Basques and Viterbo.
In 2023, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of ANAE, the national leadership decided to carry out a thorough renovation of the lighting system, approving an innovative project of bright creativity that emotionally changes the visual impact of the monumental complex of Viterbo. The lighting design was created by Paolo Sensi of Studio Due. The design utilized a number of Studio Due products including: Compactbar M Plug-In, Terra Plus SS/M Plug-In, Archiled 200/M, Smart Max30 RGBWA, Clever Spot M Plug-In, and Slimbar Plus Pob W Plug-In.
“The realization of this innovative project in collaboration with Studio Due company represents a new step forward,” said Gen. Sergio Buono, National President ANAE. “The continuous technical progress of our aircraft has accustomed us to be curious and open to the use of new technologies and to apply new forms of art and creativity in step with the times to the symbols that preserve our tradition.”
“When we were contacted by ANAE, I immediately noticed a connection: our company has just celebrated 40 years of activity,” commented Arch. Marcello Bertini, Sales Manager Studio Due. “In addition, the headquarters of Studio Due is in Viterbo and the AVES war memorial is a symbol of the city. We therefore embraced this project with particular enthusiasm, studying the artist’s report in advance, so that the lighting result obtained could help to create the right emotional atmosphere to honor the fallen Blue Basques.”
