A wide array of Claypaky fixtures were selected for French rapper SDM’s recent performance at the famed Olympia concert hall in Paris. Lighting Designer Guillaume Dubot of Lumiverse Design chose 32 Claypaky Sharpy X Frames, 16 HY B-EYE K10s and 12 Mythos2 for the show. SDM is currently on the road in France and Switzerland for his Liens du 100 tour in support of his eponymous album released late last year.  It is the rapper’s second studio album.

Lumiverse Design is a Paris-based creative studio specializing in design, scenography and lighting programming.  The company wanted SDM’s tour to stand out from typical rap shows and crafted a sleek, elegant design that immediately appealed to the artist and his team.  They opted for a tulle backdrop with SDM’s logo for a theatrical touch.  Then they created a visual identity specific to the artist and different moods for each track he and guest artists performed.  The audience was immersed in the rapper’s universe where dynamic scenes were followed by more intimate sets.

Lumiverse Design mounted Sharpy X Frames high up in the rig with the HY B-EYE K10s and also on the sides and front of the stage.  Sharpy X Frame is a powerful and versatile hybrid fixture with a four focal plane shutter system that can also be used as a spotlight.  It proved to be ideal for producing the uniform colors and beautiful textures the team wanted.

The Mythos2 fixtures were positioned behind SDM adding interesting depth to the visual look of his performance. The Claypaky fixtures were supplied by B LIVE, a 360-solutions company with offices across France and internationally. Adrien Mouttou of B LIVE supported the event.
