Epson and Show Sage to Demonstrate Digital Backdrops with Projector Technology and Dataton Multi-Display Software

Epson will participate in the USITT Conference and Stage Expo at booth #681 in St. Louis, Mo. from March 16-18. Epson, a global leader in projection, and Show Sage, a leading provider of multi-output production, playback, and show control solutions in North America, will demonstrate technology, tools and software for scenic projection and digital media production.

The USITT Conference and Stage Expo provides education, networking and hands-on opportunities for attendees and companies to share and explore innovative technologies, new products and different methods for theatre and live entertainment professionals.

Showcasing Epson’s new compact EB-PU2200 series laser projectors with Dataton’s WATCHOUT multi-display production and playback software, as well as Show Sage’s line of Show*Server media servers, and Show*Station™ production workstations, the Epson and Show Sage booth will explore creation and customization of theater and live entertainment spaces with projection technology and software. Working together to help bring stage productions to life, the booth will demo scenic projection, also known as digital backdrops. At the Epson booth, industry experts from Epson and Show Sage will also offer insight on how to use WATCHOUT software with projection technology to create static and dynamic backdrops, and digitally decorate scenic stage properties, allowing unlimited creative flexibility.

Combining a laser light source and interchangeable lenses with proprietary 3-chip 3LCD and 4K Enhancement Technology1 for brilliant color output and durability, Epson’s EB-PU2200 series projectors offer sophisticated software and a range of available mounts, frames and lenses to overcome challenging space restrictions and transform venues. With quiet operation from an advanced liquid cooling design, these projectors are well suited for house-mounted positions in theatres and optimized for live shows with 3G-SDI input and output to accommodate daisy-chaining and long cable runs, plus a mechanical shutter. The projectors feature a hermetically sealed optical engine for high dust resistance and a filterless cabinet for low-maintenance operation.

Epson’s EB-PU2200 series solutions on display at the event include:
EB-PU2220B – The EB-PU2220B 20,000-Lumen 3LCD Large Venue Laser Projector with 4K Enhancement is the world’s smallest and lightest 20,000-lumen projector – 60% smaller and 50% lighter than its predecessors. The EB-PU2220B produces ultra-bright, 20,000-lumen images and uses a 20,000-hour virtually maintenance-free laser light source.

EB-PU2216B – The EB-PU2216B 16,000-Lumen 3LCD Large Venue Laser Projector with 4K Enhancement produces ultra-bright, 16,000-lumen images from a standard 120 V power source and uses a 20,000-hour virtually maintenance-free laser light source.

Additionally, both projectors work with Epson’s optional PixAlign camera, providing access to advanced projection capabilities that help simplify complex multi-projector installations and make achieving sophisticated projection applications easier. With the ability to project images from 100 inches up to 1000 inches, both projectors also pair with Epson’s extensive lens family, including an ultra short-throw .35 lens with a unique zero offset design for added installation flexibility and tight space projection. The projectors are also equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) functionality and easy-to-use Epson Projector Configuration Tool (EPCT) Android™ and iOS® mobile app, to streamline multi-projector installations. Users can also control and monitor multiple projectors in a single, large space with Epson Projector Professional Tool (EPPT) and easily manage installed inventory with Epson Projector Management.

Exhibiting since 2017, the USITT Stage Expo has provided an opportunity for Epson to demonstrate the power of projection within the theater community. From highly technical end users to those new to scenic projection, USITT is an ideal venue to demonstrate the value projection technology can bring across an extensive range of applications. Representing a new era in large venue and live production, the Epson EB-PU2200 series join Epson’s Pro Series interchangeable lens lineup of laser projectors offering high-powered projection that transforms spaces without being bound by a frame. For more information, visit https://epson.com/liveevents.
