Tour Details
The 2022 tour was the second trek that designers Jonny Kingsbury and Imogene Strauss have done with Claire Cottrill (Clairo). Strauss and Claire worked closely together first to come up with the vision for the set design. “The process involved a lot of listening to the album and many conversations with her about her process of making the album, where and how the recording took place, and the intimacy we wanted to create for the show that would reflect that process,” said Strauss.
Then Kingsbury was brought in to design the lighting and help execute bringing their vision into the touring world. “Imogene and Claire worked closely together to come up with the vision for the set design. I was brought in after that to design the lighting and help execute bringing their vision into the touring world,” Kingsbury added.
“A few years back, Imogene and I had worked on the Clairo Immunity Tour, and it was very well received,” Kingsbury continued. “It made sense to keep the momentum going that we had already established. Claire had wanted the stage to feel like a home, a very safe environment, that was also familiar. We had custom risers built that were covered in a wood pattern Marley with rugs layered on top of that. This helped establish the feeling of home. In addition, there were custom lanterns and lamps fabricated to help further build on that feeling, we finished it with curtains framing the stage.”
