Located at Eagle Rock Studios in Norcross, GA, Reveal XR Atlanta, a virtual production studio, has been launched with the backing of three companies—virtual production company Reveal XR, production company Music Matters Productions, and immersive content studio TRICK 3D. Three leading Atlanta digital technology innovators and entrepreneurs—Chad Shockley, Founder/CEO of Reveal XR; Aaron Soriero, Founder/CEO of Music Matters Productions; and Chad Eikhoff, Studio Founder of TRICK 3D, have joined forces to provide enterprise-focused virtual production capabilities to meet growing extended reality (XR) production demand in and around Georgia. Their goal is to provide a seamless solution for utilizing the most efficient production technologies.
Reveal XR Atlanta offers turnkey creative solutions that include digital asset creators, calibrated camera and tracking packages, lighting and grip gear, and a fully staffed production crew. Strategically located at Eagle Rock Studios, Reveal XR Atlanta provides a highly accessible and versatile virtual production set-up designed to provide best-in-class virtual production services to all verticals of production, with focused attention supporting brands and agencies’ content needs. “The state of Georgia has done an incredible job over the past decade embracing new technology for film, television, gaming, and esports content creation,” remarked Studio Partner Chad Shockley. “Our number one goal with Reveal XR Atlanta is to embrace the learnings from these endeavors and our collective experiences in live events, immersive content, marketing, production, and technology to provide brands with new opportunities to create content like never before.”
XR Production Support
Reveal XR Atlanta, geared to provide XR production for the world’s leading brands and content creators, represents the culmination of years of experience designing studios and integrating technology for clients around the country. The studio is flexible and configurable to meet the needs of a complete range of projects. Reveal XR Atlanta is a fully staffed studio with award-winning creatives and technicians that can support any size content need. The team is also experienced in design and deployment of XR production rigs, providing on-site volume solutions with expertise.
Already up and running, Reveal XR Atlanta is available for booking for brand, commercial, TV, film, and music productions. “Today’s brands need to connect with a digital-first generation of customers and, as such, the demands for creativity in content production is huge,” noted Studio Partner Chad Eikoff. “Virtual production and extended reality offers new creative opportunities while also reducing hassle and risk.”
One of the big benefits of working in XR is that you can capture effects in-camera, which significantly reduces the amount of post production needed. Also, with virtual locations and shooting indoors, you never have to worry about weather ruining a “location” shoot. You can stretch your budget by shooting in one studio where you can capture multiple (virtual) locations with one crew and again, less post production time and expense.
The Technology
The Reveal XR Atlanta studio has been expertly constructed with full acoustic treatment and air conditioning. The sound stage measures 35’ by 75’. The team chose to deploy Absen PL 2.9mm pixel pitch LED panels for a 90˚ configuration LED volume. The main LED wall measures 33’ wide by 13’ tall; the wing LED wall measures 25’ wide by 13’ tall. An optional third LED wall measures 18’ wide x 13’ tall. To create a full LED volume, an LED ceiling is available that consists of Absen’s high brightness X5 5.2mm pixel pitch. The LED ceiling is fully height adjustable. An optional LED floor is available at client request that consists of ROE Visual BM4 4.4mm pixel pitch matte LED panels. This LED floor measures 18’ deep by 24’ wide and has a high weight capacity. All of the LED panels are powered with next-generation NovaStar MX40 processing.
The studio is powered by disguise VX4+ media servers for 4K 60fps compositing, RXII render nodes, and uncompressed 10-bit video workflow. Available camera packages in the studio include RED Komodo and RED Raptor products. Reveal XR Atlanta also includes a stYpe RedSpy camera tracking system as well as a Supertechno Technodolly automated telescoping crane. Flexible studio staging and lighting options are all available based on production needs. The studio has full height truck docks, plentiful gear handling spaces and dedicated storage areas.
