NAMM CEO Joe Lamond and publisher Terry Lowe of Timeless Publications (PLSN and FRONT of HOUSE magazines) discuss the upcoming NAMM show, the Parnelli Awards (and honorees) and the Pro Production educational sessions that are planned. Lamond talks about NAMM’s decision to hold a June show, rather than simply having another “gap” year and wait until Jan. 2023. Lowe talks about how the Parnelli Awards will have to be different this year as well, without the usual long list of awards for lighting and sound touring pros. Both discuss that—while unique and different from previous NAMM shows and Parnelli Awards—participating in this year’s events make a lot of sense, particularly in terms of industry networking, whether the goal is to get hired or to hire others. Both also underscored the importance of the NAMM show’s wealth of educational opportunities, including the PLSN/FOH Pro Production seminars.
