In PLSN’s August 2021 Stage Directions section, Michael S. Eddy spoke with Jimmy Fedigan, production electrician for various Broadway shows and national tours, asking what advice he would give to a colleague as they head back to work in a theater. Fedigan replied, “Because the equipment has been sitting there for a long time, you need to take the time to do maintenance right and to clean everything. Initially, we don’t turn anything on for too long because of the fans in most equipment. We don’t want accumulated dust being sucked into electronics of equipment that pulls air in.”
