LOS ANGELES – ADJ’s new Pixie Strip Series is now shipping worldwide! This versatile collection of pixel battens combine vibrant LEDs with intelligently-designed housings to create a powerful and versatile system. It can be used to design dazzling pixel-mapped displays for touring shows and one-off events as well as for a wide variety of permanent installations.

More details from ADJ (www.adj.com):

The series includes three sizes of pixel strip bars, which can be combined together in any combination to fit with the dimensions and design of a stage’s set or venue’s interior design. The largest model, the Pixie Strip 120 measures 2 meters (78.8”) in length and features 120 tri-color RGB SMD LEDs. The mid-size bar in the series is the Pixie Strip 60, which is 1 meter (39.4”) long and is fitted with 60 LEDs. Finally, the smallest model in the series is the Pixie Strip 30, a 0.5 meter bar that features 30 LEDs.

All three models have the same 16.5mm pixel pitch and are designed such that seamless pixel spacing can be achieved when any two fixtures are placed end-to-end. To aid with setting this up, the units are all fitted with magnetic end caps that will snap adjacent fixtures together to create a seamless run of perfectly spaced LEDs from one Pixie Strip to the next. The LEDs across all three models offer a resolution of 8 bits per color (24 bits per pixel) and a refresh rate of 44,000Hz, allowing flicker free operation for TV, film and other broadcast applications.

Aluminum construction ensures that the housing of all three models is both lightweight and robust. The Pixie Strip 120 has a weight of 4.6 lbs. (2.1kg), the Pixie Strip 60 weighs in at 2.7 lbs. (1.2kg), while the Pixie Strip 30 is just 2.7 lbs (1.2kg). All three units feature an integrated safety cable loop and adjustable mounting bracket (two on the larger strips), which can be used for permanent installation or bolted to clamps for temporary setups.

The Pixie Strips offer a viewing angle of 120 x 120 degrees and are supplied with two different optional frosted lens attachments (square and rounded), which further add to the flexibility of the system. Power and data are supplied to the strips via proprietary 4-pin combo cables (sold separately in lengths from 1’ to 50’). The input and output sockets are positioned at opposite ends of the bar to make setup/installation easier and quicker while also minimizing the length of the required connecting cables.

Easy and versatile control options are handled by the Pixie Driver 2000 (sold separately) which provides simple on-board manual dimming and strobe control as well as full pixel mapping using either the Kling-Net, Art-Net or sACN (streaming ACN) protocol. This compact device features a universal auto switching power supply (100-240v) with a locking power input socket, a 4-button LCD control menu display for setup, RJ45 Ethernet in/out ports, and two 4-pin outputs for connection to Pixie Strips. A maximum of 2,040 pixels can be driven from a single unit via Kling-Net and upto 340 pixels can be driven via Art-Net or sACN. The Pixie Driver 2000 can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack (rack ears included) or attached to truss with a clamp (not included).

The Pixie Driver 2000 also offers manual dimming capabilities as well as 16 built-in programs with speed control, which can be used for testing or standalone operation. In addition, the device offers a variety of RGB control modes which group two or more LEDs together and therefore significantly reduce the required number of control channels.

“The new ADJ Pixie Strip Series is a versatile pixel-mappable LED strip system that has been developed to provide lighting designers and installers with a powerful tool for creating dynamic designs,” explains ADJ USA’s National Sales Manager, Alfred Gonzales. “It is ideal for installation in a wide variety of different types, sizes and styles of venue from large nightclubs and churches to compact bars, bowling alleys, roller rinks and jump parks. Thanks to its magentic end caps and convenient mounting brackets, it is also perfect for use on touring shows or at one-off events. The flexible system can be used to create standalone lighting effects or integrated with a video system to display low-res video.”

Each Pixel Strip model comes with four removable cosmetic lenses: a frosted white circular lens, a frosted white square lens, a frosted grey circular lens and a frosted grey square lens. The gray lenses are designed to make the fixture less conspicuous. Users also have the option to use no lenses so that each pixel may be seen changing colors.
