How to Be an Amateur (or a Professional):

Share this Post:

To be an amateur: Blame others. Stop achieving as soon as you are comfortable. Tell everyone how good you are at everything. Focus on your weaknesses. Don’t share your knowledge. Focus on being right. Focus on the short term. Be inconsistent. Think in absolutes. Treat disagreements as threats. To become a professional: Take responsibility. Break out of your comfort zone and explore new opportunities. Be comfortable and honest with your strengths and weaknesses. Focus on your strengths and improve them. Share your knowledge and accept help. Focus on the best outcome. Focus on the long term. Be consistent. Think in probabilities. Treat disagreements as an opportunity.
