WASHINGTON, D.C. – Quince Imaging has once again teamed up with Monumental Sports, the joint-venture company that owns and manages Washington D.C.’s Capitals (NHL) and Wizards (NBA). The partnership dates back to the early 2010s, when Monumental called upon Quince to create the first-ever, 3D arena, court projection proof of concept for the Washington Wizards in 2011. The first-of-its-kind video-mapped court projection did not make it to the NBA court for live viewing that season, but did serve as catalyst for the now, world-renowned court projections that have become the fan-engagement tool of choice for the most highly esteemed teams in professional sports.

More details from Quine Imaging (www.quinceimaging.com):

The special-event projection system will remain installed in Capital One Arena throughout the duration of both teams’ playoff runs and will feature exclusive 3D animated content, designed and produced by Quince Imaging’s very own creative team. Installed the first week of April, the state-of-the-art system, which by all known accounts, is the most sophisticated installation in professional sports to date, will include what the Quince team has coined the “trifecta” of modern sports display and systems integration. The innovative technology that makes it all possible consists of the groundbreaking Christie Digital suite of AV solutions.

The product line-up includes Christie’s Pandoras Box media servers, the brand-new Christie Terra 4K signal transmitter, and the Christie Mystique, which provides an integrative solution to calibrating complex, multi-projector display systems. Together, these systems will enhance the playoff fan-engagement experience, by amplifying the effects of 3D video-mapped content and interactive special effects, during player introductions and halftime shows on the court and rink.

Asked about the product selection used to catapult the efficiency of Capital One’s special-event installation, Quince Imaging Co-Founder and COO, Scott Williams replied with confidence, “As the markets evolve, the push for automating the time-consuming methods of alignment have led us to adopt and implement these powerful tools from Christie Digital. These tools save time, resources and of course dollars, over the life of the projection systems. Christie Digital’s product suite has become the no-brainer choice for these complex installations.”

Quince Imaging’s special-event rentals remain a popular choice for high-profile sporting events, such as playoffs, milestone celebrations, team anniversaries and player retirement ceremonies for some teams. Other teams, such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils, and Chicago’s Bulls and Blackhawks have found value in permanently installing arena projection systems, to utilize for increased home-game fanfare, in their resident arenas. It goes without saying, that along with the value derived, Quince Imaging takes great pride in assisting clients and providing an immersive, enthralling experience to their devoted fans – whose support for the Caps and Wizards has been a driving force, pushing them into playoff standing for the 2017–2018 season.
