MIDDLETON, WI –For nearly two decades, ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship has given students a unique way to gain experience, make connections and launch a career, and to attend the LDI tradeshow with all expenses paid. Applications for this year’s Sponsorship are available at http://www.etcconnect.com/LDISponsorship and due by June 8th, 2018.
ETC’s LDI Student Sponsorship includes roundtrip airfare to the LDI tradeshow, which will be October 19th to 21st this year, along with hotel accommodations, all meals, a full conference pass, a student reception to meet people in the industry, and exclusive ETC swag. Students in their final year of undergraduate study, graduate students, and students from outside of North America who are studying at the university level at the time of the LDI show, and who are studying lighting design, theater technology, stage machinery, or closely related fields, are eligible to apply.
One of the most beneficial aspects of ETC’s LDI Sponsorship is the mentorship portion. ETC matches each student with a professional who is well established in the industry and works in a field that interests the student. The mentors provide guidance, advice and inspiration as the students finish their schooling and move into the working world. They can help with everything from giving input on designing a show, to introducing the students to important connections that could lead to a career.
Nick Diaz, a 2013 ETC LDI Student Sponsorship recipient says, “ETC is never shy about promoting young designers, and the events they arranged proved to be very valuable for me to gain exposure in the lighting world. It is apparent that ETC takes great pride in giving next generation of lighting professionals a healthy start. So, whether you’re a designer, programmer, or technician, I would recommend applying for this great opportunity.”
