LONG BEACH, CA,— Seoul Semiconductor, a global innovator of LED products and technology, will participate in the annual Strategies in Light conference and exhibit, one of the leading conferences for the international LED lighting industry, scheduled for February 13 – 15, 2018 in Long Beach, CA. In addition to showcasing its latest LED innovations, Seoul’s president for the Americas, Mark McClear, will deliver a plenary address on February 14 at 11am with a presentation entitled “The LED Supply Chain – Past, Present & Possible Future.”

“There have been many changes behind the scenes in the LED supply chain in recent years to enable companies to deliver advances in technology at lower costs,” explained McClear, in a preview of his address. “But the future may not be as linear and stable as the past. As LED suppliers change leadership and ownership, they are seeking out new and creative ways to advance their technology roadmaps, while still delivering value for their shareholders.”
In its exhibit at Strategies in Light 2018, Seoul Semiconductor will feature its latest LED innovation, the SunLike Series natural spectrum LEDs, based on a new technology that produces light closely matching the spectrum of natural sunlight. Introduced in June 2017, the new SunLike Series natural spectrum LED technology was co-developed by Seoul Semiconductor and Toshiba Materials, combining Seoul Semiconductor’s world-class LED chip technology with Toshiba Materials’ TRI-R technology, a leading global phosphor compound.
The company believes that the SunLike Series LEDs represent a revolution in the quality of light by creating natural spectrum lighting in an LED, contributing to healthier life for humans, as well as in horticultural applications to create an ideal environment to help plants grow. Since the SunLike Series LEDs implement spectrum closest to the sunlight, they more accurately represent the color and texture of the object in natural light such as for illuminating fine art paintings in museum settings.
Also on display at Strategies in Light will be Seoul’s revolutionary WICOP (Wafer Integrated Chip On PCB) package-less LEDs, which represent a two-generation advance in LED technology, with performance that delivers best in class Color Over Angle, 10% higher brightness, and 20% lower cost than conventional “3535” high power LEDs, enabling radically smaller, lighter, less expensive luminaire designs.
Seoul will showcase its NanoDriver and MicroDriver Series of LED drivers – which feature a unique power topology that results in smaller size, increased efficiency and lower costs – with power densities up to 10X higher than conventional LED drivers. The NanoDriver Series, rated for 16W and 24W, are the industry’s smallest LED drivers at just 13.5mm2. The MicroDriver Series miniature LED drivers are designed for LED lighting fixtures from 900 to 2400 lumens, with a miniature package that enables the integration of the control circuitry with the external driver, making it possible to mount more light sources on the module, or reduce the size of the module.
