HOLLYWOOD, CA – Upstage Video was tapped to provide video elements for the premiere of La La Land In Concert, A live-to-film celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. The May 26 and 27 events were staged by the creative team from Kraft-Engle, and Bowl promoter Andrew Hewitt & Bill Silva Presents with a 100-piece orchestra, choir and jazz band playing live music from the film.

More details from Upstage Video (www.upstagevideo.com):

The event featured the music of Academy Award Winner, Justin Hurvitz’s score from the film, and premiered previously unheard music. Over 17,000 were in attendance including the film’s award-winning best actress, Emma Stone.

At the heart of the production was Upstage Video’s 20’ x 50’ wide CS8, LED screen center hung, on stage showing the film in its entirety in Cinemascope. Additional services included projection mapping on the Bowl’s bandshell playing back artistic content related to the film on the iconic structure and a 10 camera HD flight pack to capture the event live to the venue’s in-house LED screens.

Upstage Video’s Mark Haney who directed cameras for the event said, “We were privileged to work with clients Richard Kraft, Laura Engle, and Lionsgate on what is a special film, not just to Angelenos, but to any fan of musicals. There were many moving parts, and the Upstage Video team really made the impossible, possible on a quick lead up to, and on the event itself. I feel privileged to work with such wonderfully talented people. We did the entire event out of our Los Angeles shop, and that made everything so much easier”.

The show and production were given rave reviews by all who covered it in the press, and will continue with more shows worldwide in 2017. Haney mentioned the collaboration on the event was key, “As you do with any new show, you take all these parts of the puzzle, and put them together, that’s always a group effort.”
