2016 Ryder Cup to Feature Record Number of LED Screens

HAZELTINE, MN – This week’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club outside the Twin Cities will feature more LED video screens than have ever been placed at a PGA Tour event. The PGA of America hired Texas-based GoVision to provide and install 15 large LED screens throughout the golf course, Media Center and International Pavilion. The typical PGA Tour event uses two to four LED screens.

More details from GoVision (www.jumbo.tv):

“This is the most screens we’ve ever placed at a golf tournament,” said Chris Curtis, GoVision’s founder and CEO. “We put a record number at Medinah for the 2012 Ryder Cup, but this takes the cake. And this time, we’re constructing each of the on-course screens with our state-of-the-art inventory of modular GV6mm SMD panels, so the viewing experience on-site will be absolutely spectacular.”

GoVision’s Creative Services team will also provide all of the content and scoring throughout the tournament, as well as Media Center support. This requires an on-site team including a producer, technical directors, motion graphics designers, graphics operators, a technical operations manager, an audio engineer and a multitude of production systems to support their work.

In addition, GoVision’s Custom Design & Fabrication shop has constructed 107 36” banner frames that the PGA of America will debut at the Ryder Cup, then use at future tournaments.

“This is a total team effort involving multiple divisions at GoVision which, frankly, wouldn’t have been possible the last time we worked the Ryder Cup,” continued Curtis. “It’s a testament to our strategy of bringing complementary capabilities in-house, which has enabled us to be a one-stop-shop for the PGA and other large clients. I couldn’t be more proud of our expanded team for its unprecedented role at this major global event.”

The GV6mm panel is an ultra-lightweight product, weighing in at just 40 lbs per tile. Because the tiles offer extremely high resolution and image clarity, they can be used both indoors and out. Its solid/black face technology eliminates the transparency issues found in other LED panels.
