NEW YORK – The Radio City Rockettes shined just a little bit brighter during the recent opening night of their New York Summer Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall due to a new projection upgrade for the show. The Madison Square Garden Company called on Nashville-based event production company, DWP Live, to install an upgrade for the theatrical productions at Radio City Music Hall including New York Spectacular and the well-known Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes, in which the annual Christmas production see nearly one million patrons each year.

More details from DWP LIVE (www.dwplive.com):

This is the show’s first projection upgrade in more than four years, and DWP Live’s first permanent installation in New York City. “Working on this project let DWP Live establish a presence in New York City and grow our relationship with this city. It has been incredible to be called on to create an installation for the Radio City Rockettes and Radio City Music Hall — two American institutions,” said Danny Whetstone, founder and president of DWP Live. “We can’t thank The Madison Square Garden Company enough for giving us this opportunity to leave our mark on New York City.”

DWP Live installed 22 Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors in Radio City Music Hall. One of the highest-rated 4K projectors on the market, the Christie Boxer projector delivers the best size to lumen output ratio for high impact live events. The Boxer’s 4K resolution gives a smoother display and more lifelike images than even the best HD projector on the market.

“The installation was a major undertaking that had to be completed within a short timeline. Between rehearsals and the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Christie, The Madison Square Garden Company and our team all pulled together to get this project completed,” said Rick Boot, DWP Live’s general partner and owner. “In addition to thanking The Madison Square Garden Company, we also need to thank Christie for supporting us throughout the installation.”

Opened in 1932, Radio City Music Hall is the largest indoor theatre in the world. Nicknamed the “Showplace of the Nation,” the Art Deco theatre can seats nearly 6,000 guests and has hosted some of the biggest names and events in entertainment ranging from concerts to live theatricals to awards shows. The Radio City Rockettes have performed at Radio City Music Hall  since 1933 with the inception of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

The Madison Square Garden Company reached out to DWP Live to do the installation after DWP Live executed a projection mapping piece for Adele Live in New York City, a one-night-only show at Radio City Music Hall, which aired on NBC December 14, 2015. Over 11 million people watched the Adele Live in New York City broadcast.

New York Spectacular, starring The Radio City Rockettes celebrates New York City in the summertime centered around the trip of a lifetime for two kids, who, while on a vacation in New York, are separated from their parents. The city magically comes to life to help to reunite their family in the end. New York Spectacular features iconic scenery of New York locations and landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Wall Street, Central Park and Times Square, alongside larger-than-life statues like the Statue of Liberty and the Wall Street bull. New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes is running for a limited engagement at Radio City Music Hall now through August 7, 2016.
