CreateLED has emerged as one of the world’s most advanced LED display screen suppliers, rising in prominence along with the popularity of LEDs — and LED screens — themselves.

The technological roots of all this growth date back to the earliest developments in LED technology. While the building blocks of LED technology start as early as 1907, it was not until 1962 that industrially produced red LED’s entered the market. Thirty more years passed before the invention of the first high brightness blue LED came about in 1994.

The blue LED was the final piece of the puzzle to create the RGB. The existence of blue LEDs and high-efficiency LEDs quickly led to the development of the first white LED. Because of this, the white LED became available a short time later. With these last two innovations, the door burst wide open for the broad applications of LED in use presently.

Technology, Backed by People

Zhuo Cheng, who majored in mechanical/electrical engineering, graduated the same year that blue LED came into being. With an uncanny market sense and personal vision, he pursued a career in the soon-to-be rapidly growing industry, gaining a wealth of experience in LED technology, research, development, production management and marketing. This professional background provided the building blocks to establish his dream company.

In 2004, Cheng founded CreateLED Electronics Co. Ltd. The company develops, manufactures and markets LED video solutions for multiple indoor and outdoor applications. A world-class manufacturer, the company has experienced tremendous growth parallel to the LED since opening its doors. Along with the global headquarters in China, which also houses the company’s large, internationally certified factory, CreateLED maintain a strong presence around the world with regional offices in Europe, Asia Pacific and America.

Behind the success of its high-tech products are CreateLED’s people. When asked what attracts people to work with CreateLED, Cheng says, “I think it is our corporate culture. It is unique. Career experiences in CreateLED can be challenging and fun. We not only prepare different stages for our employees to get well-rounded training, but also offer various opportunities for their self-development. We believe that making employees actually enjoy every minute at CreateLED is the best stimulation for them to create great values.”

Cheng notes that two key associates — Mark Chan, who would become worldwide general director, and Maggie Qi, sales manager for China — signed on with CreateLED early in the company’s growth, and as the company has grown, it has recruited people who share their commitment to innovation, passion, quality and service.

“In the assembly line, in the warehouse, in the office, from common workers, company consultants to our general managers, every employee in CreateLED considers the question, ‘What can I do to improve our display’s quality? How can I better our service?’” Cheng notes.

CreateLED’s products are now on projects in more than 30 countries including the U.S., Japan, Europe and South Korea. Cheng notes that the company’s promise — “high product performance backed with high quality service” — is backed up with the spirit in which CreateLED produces its product line.

At their factory, each of these video screens are carefully engineered and manufactured. Close attention to every detail and every process, each screw, each soldering tin, each lamp, is in place to keep the failure rate below 0.01 percent.

“At CreateLED, we leverage our 10 years of experience every time we manufacture a large-scale LED screen,” Cheng adds, again crediting his staff for the company’s expanding client base and solid core of longtime customers.

A Broad Range of Products

CreateLED’s 11 best-selling products include its creative AirWAVEMAG, AirBLADE, AirMAGICBOX and AirFLOOR products and its high-def AirMAG, AirLED, AirULTRA and AirMAGLITE displays. The company also makes a range suited for media and digital signage (AirTOTEM, AirMEDIA and AirSPORT). CreateLED also serves as one of China’s top 10 LED screen rental companies.

CreateLED’s AirWAVEMAG can be used for curvilinear displays – concave, convex or “S”-shape, with the ability to go from a 0 to 36 degrees to create curving arcs.

The AirMAGICBOX is designed for modular retail or stage prop displays. It provides Lego-like combinations to create many diverse visualization forms. Each cubic five-sided LED module is 500mm x 500mm. Projects in the past that utilized this product have depicted the Great Wall, Roman pillar railings and other historic structures.

The AirMAG is the company’s Ultra High Density display series, incorporating Black Body SMD 3-in-1 LED’s to get a high contrast ratio. This enables a high refresh rate and improves image quality at a low brightness levels.

The AirMAG-2, which is a very popular choice in the AirMAG series, features 16-bit color processing, high definition 2.6mm pixel pitch, 160° viewing angles, 1,000 nits brightness and a 4000:1 contrast ratio. The AirMAG-2 has been used for a broad array of fixed and rental applications, particularly for indoor venues where audiences are in close proximity to the screen.

David Oh, managing director of CreateLED Japan Company Limited, notes that with its low cost, light weight, ease of use and clarity, the AirMAG-2 has been put to use with video monitoring command centers, TV stations, video conferencing, the cinema, car shows, shopping malls, hotels and retail applications.

For optimum color fidelity and uniformity, CreateLED’s AirULTRA Series offers deep black levels, brilliant colors, wide horizontal viewing angles, a fast refresh rate (2000 Hz), high gray level (16 bits) and contrast (4000:1).

CreateLED’s cost-effective AirLED also promises high performance and reliability in an easy-to-rig, lightweight design. Along with its 4000:1 contrast ratio, AirLED features include a fan-less design for noise-sensitive environments.

CreateLED’s AirBlade, used for both architectural and touring applications, adds the “Wow” factor for seamless, large screen applications, with a rugged, tour-ready design. Designers have used it as a tool for inclined ceiling or canopy images as well as backdrop purposes. The Blade also features a high degree of transparency.

CreateLED’s AirSPORT, featuring 10mm pixel pitch, grayscale level of 65,536 levels (16 bit/color) and 2,000 Hz refresh rate, is designed minimize moiré effects, colorcasts, color stains and color blocks. Its color fidelity makes it a good match with diverse corporate logo color requirements.

CreateLED’s AirMAGLITE, introduced in 2014, is designed to enhance car shows, shopping malls, fashion shows, theme resorts, houses of worship and conference venues. It features a lightweight design, remote monitor diagnostic system with auto-lock Operation and CNC-processed panel. The flexible and easy adjustable cabinet is capable of a -10° to 10° angle with portable pedals at each side.

Standout Applications

Another recent offering from CreateLED is their Wheat Straw LED, based on the company’s technology developed for the “Field of Hope” display within China’s national pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo earlier this year. The thin single strips of LEDs can be mounted to just about anything and are useful for all kinds of arrays and geometric structures.

For the Canopy LED for Star Alliance, a major LED lighting brand center and showroom in China, CreateLED installed 15,091 AirUltra-10 units for a curved 3,334 square meter (35,887 square foot) display within that building’s 215-foot high atrium ceiling.

Hanging on each side from the ceiling are four ultra-thin AirMAG-7 vertical LED displays (39 by 13 feet) portraying cascading water. Looking downward, viewers can see three displays with “fish” swimming. For those, CreateLED provided its AirULTRA-6 high resolution along with vivid images of fish swimming from one tank to another.

Expansion Plans

The company has already had an impact with several projects in the U.S. Its AirMAG LED screens, for example, have supported projects including the 2014 U.S. Open and the Four Seasons Hotel in New York.

With a U.S. subsidiary in Las Vegas and a network of dealers, CreateLED offers several different types of field service and product support for their U.S. clients. These services range from onsite technical support to remote access services and full turnkey operation service for client projects as well. CreateLED can not only provide product solutions but also operate them or train a customer’s staff to take control.

As competition among LED display manufacturers has intensified, CreateLED has stayed on top by focusing on one thing above all else: customer satisfaction.

“Your interests are always on our mind, every moment we are developing,” says Cheng. “We start small, but we aim high. Many little things add up to make a miracle. We are on the journey and we will never stop. We do believe CreateLED will have a bright future. In short,” he adds, “quality is the life of our company, and talent is the soul of it.”
