Griffin Automation Helps Broaden the Club’s Array of Colors and Looks.
After 10 years at the Mall at Millenia, Blue Martini Orlando has moved to International Drive, opening its doors to customers this past May. Conveniently located next to the Orlando Convention Center as well as several hotels and other tourist attractions, the nighttime hot spot and local favorite appeals to business professionals, out of town guests and loyal local customers.
An Expanded Palette
The latest location incorporates a new concept featuring a lighter and brighter environment to render color changes more accurately. What once was a single-color environment in order to preserve corporate identity with just red, blue and amber is no more, with an ever-changing choreographed color palette taking its place. The new space also features lighter textures and paints and real wood and premium finishes.
Tom Griffin, owner of Griffin Automation of South Florida, worked with David Chesal, entertainment & leisure business development manager at Robe, on the lighting system upgrade.
“While attending the Annual Blue Martini Management Convention in Orlando last September, owner Mark Vasu asked me to elevate the customer experience with a new lighting package while delivering today’s technology,” notes Chesal. To achieve this, he and Griffin upgraded all the single color variant Anolis products to RGBW and RGBA and incorporated the Robe moving lights.
First on the list was accenting the new lighter/brighter interior design format. “Mr. Vasu was adamant about accent lighting because of the new interior color scheme and the expense involved in using real wood and stone,” said Griffin. He used Anolis ArcSource 4MC’s throughout to highlight interior embellishments, including the wood lattice. Robe Scan 250XTs and a Faze 800 FT haze machine were also used to enhance the interior setting.
New Promotional Options
Griffin and Chesal included Robe’s Robin MiniMe fixtures, which feature onboard LED engine and full video output, allowing users to load their own content. That way, Blue Martini can take advantage of its close proximity to the Convention Center, using this fixture as a marketing tool and uploading custom content for corporate events and nightly specials. (MiniMe’s are put to similar use at Blue Martini locations in Florida, including Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, and also in Fort Lauderdale and Naples, FL.)
Blue Martini also wanted a comprehensive exterior lighting package to enhance overall customer experience. Griffin used this directive to create a warm and welcoming environment. Anolis ArcSource 1MC fixtures surround the fire pit while ArcSource Inground 24MC’s uplight the palm trees. ArcLine Mini Outdoor 36 fixtures are incorporated into the exterior window shutters and the open air patio is lit by ArcSource Outdoor 4s. Lastly, to highlight the building frontage, two Robe CitySkape Xtremes are placed on the rooftop.
In all, Griffin used close to 1,500 Anolis and Robe fixtures. He credited their reliability for giving him “true peace of mind,” citing that as a must when “flawless performance is required 365 days a year.”
Griffin also updated the video system to an Aurora 4K video matrix switcher and Planar LCD monitors. The Planar Clarity Matrix LCD video wall enhances the lighting with a stunning 4k graphics package.
